I just listened to Earth Wind and Fire’s “Reasons”
I remember a local concert where a guy I went to high school with named Pete sang Reasons. I occasionally teased him for years afterward about his falsetto singing on this song.
Now, decades later, I think Pete may have done it slightly better than EW&F.

Deprecating 'rutabaga' laptop. In the years before browsers became JavaScript infated behemoths, a netbook style computer was a good idea. But 2G of RAM, 32G of eMMC storage is terrible for anyone who might open a browser.

Engaged in a conversation with a 9-11 and Iran-Contra conspiracy theorist. I mean, yes, there were indications that AQ was planning an attack, even a large one, but if you think our intelligence agencies are competent enough to piece together those things, you have never worked with government agencies and their employees.
-
Remember, Russia warned the US about the Boston Marathon bombers before it happened. Security and intelligence agencies still weren't able to get to them and prevent the injuries and deaths of innocent people.

Have you ever spent thirty minutes or more trying to device the right search query to cause all the off-topic garbage and sites that are outside the desired resultset but the search engine includes them in the results anyway? I have. This is why, IMO, security based on gathering all of everyone's data is always going to fail. There's way too much noise, so either one overreacts…

#faveNephew called last night while I was looking for children's clothing, so I'm finishing the order today. We talked about my recent trip to #MO and my plans to move there. We discussed certain family members who are wedded to living in this area and how moving will affect them. We discussed his cousin #lazyNephew. Work ethic, cleaning and cooking (or lack thereof ... I sent …

> the last day of school before Summer vacation
Oh, you mean Liberation Day! That was my favorite day of the year when I was a kid.

It's #FartingFriday again, where people expose particularly gassy people using the #FF hashtag.
-
I awoke to see a screenshot of #sonOne's order of clothing for #Daddy_A's daughter #Little_Girl_A3. He got everything: shoes, socks, pants, panties, shirts. There's even one item that might be a jacket. Now grandpa needs to put in an order for clothing for #Little_Boy_A and #Little_Boy_A2.
I also have a list of items to order for #GS3.

I used to host a #YaCy p2p search node ( https://www.yacy.net/ ), and I intend to do so again in the future, but now I'm seeing "YaCy Grid" (a non-peer-to-peer search) is being developed. https://searchlab.eu/t/the-story-of-yacy-grid/48/17
-
But frankly, my interest in #YaCy is because of its peer to peer nature. I understand it wasn't good enough to run a search engine business with it. (As Sarchy found out.) Its results weren't great anyway.

https://searchlab.eu/t/self-hosted-s3-buckets-for-distributed-data-collection/480
A #YaCy dev has an idea: peers can use #S3 buckets to store and share their index data.
I see one flaw right away: every peer would need to run a second VPS (and possibly more) with #min.io to provide the storage backend ... or rent such storage from Amazon or other cloud vendors.

01:10 Central / 23:10 Pacific. Receive a Wire message from #GD2 (8 years old granddaughter).
Staying silent, because I know she's got online school tomorrow and don't want to be her excuse for staying up even later.

I'm glad to learn that she's discovered animations. She's been art / drawing centric since she was 2. I sent her a graphics tablet the year I worked in Puerto Rico.
I'm still not going to respond until tomorrow afternoon (afternoon her time).

I haven't read most of the Hunter Biden stories, because HB isn't running for President. If they can prove that HB had illegal materials (that is, child porn) on his laptop, then USDOJ should prosecute him, just as they'd prosecute anyone else. I have said, and I repeat, that long before this material, based on the Ukraine and China interactions, if Joe Biden were a regular fe…

@lnxw48a1 I was wondering when this was going to happen, I used to follow him on twitter but stopped because of his postings and writing. I don't have to agree with everyone I follow but the attitude matters and his has been changing. I think there is something else going on, not sure what but there was a change a few months ago that I noticed and made me back away from him.

post-tropical cyclone #Zeta continues to move rapidly. The center of the storm is over Delaware, about to cross into the ocean (most of the storm is already at sea). There was a 1989 movie called 'The Wizard' where a traumatized kid could only say 'California'. Near the end, they stopped at a dinosaur place in CA, and he left a photo of a dead sibling at the place where she'd had fun on a prior trip.
@guizzy's dinosaurs post reminded me.
