   I think I'm going to shut down the $EMPLOYER computer and just wait until next week. There are six #WinUpdates that the software center has been chewing on all day. They sit in "Waiting to install" state for an hour or two, then toggle to "Failed". Then I reboot and re-launch the software center. Time to stop running around in circles.

     @geniusmusing It is my impression that Flash is also bundled in most Chromium-based browsers, so MSFT removing it may not be enough to make a computer completely free of Flash or its vulnerabilities. I guess it does mean IE and Edge will be free of it.

    These WinUpdates are taking forever to install. I thought one was hung up and was about to reboot when it suddenly changed to "Requires restart".
    
    Also, has anyone else noticed that some recent updates require more than one reboot before they consider themselves installed?

    It looks like the center of #Hurricane #Zeta is moving onshore near New Orleans, #LA, right about now. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ I haven't seen any news stories about evacuations, but there must be. I don't know how high the storm surge is, but a high surge can ride inland for a few miles, meaning that normally dry land temporarily becomes part of the ocean.

    I switched to KeepassXC because of the browser extensions. However, once the extension checks and finds out there’s an updated version of the password manager, it refuses to connect to the old version. I need to file a bug, because I’m not about to install software that is not in the standard OS repositories.

      @mangeurdenuage From what the KeepassXC site says, development in the KeepassX project is nearly dead. Not saying it is true, but there were a lot of fairly old patches awaiting action when I looked.

      When working with family members and personal friends, telling them to use a copying and pasting password manager instead of the browser’s built-in password remembering function (or using the same password everywhere) is a losing battle. It is necessary for a good pwdmgr to have such extensions for browsers and certain other software.

      @mangeurdenuage There are also some sites that try to prevent copy-pasting passwords. I think PayPal does this when people are changing passwords.
