Well, it finally happened to me today. I had an abstract accepted to the DNP meeting in August, but never got the email about it. I never confirmed the talk, but they put it on the schedule anyway. And I found out about the day/time of the talk 30 minutes before. I am so dumb.

@sl https://nu.federati.net/url/277271 [www sami-lehtinen net] links to an article "getting started with security keys" Interesting.
I bought a Yubico-branded security key last year, but haven't done much with it yet. (In fact, I made sure that all three sons, my mom, and @amic@nulled.red each had one. I can't recall whether I gave one to #lazyNephew.)

Long article, with frequent digressions. I think it needs more sane updates policy. But worth reading.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/best-security-keys/ [www zdnet com] Rates some security keys ... be aware their links may be affilliate (commissions paid to ZDNet if thou clickest or buyest). Still worth a quick browse, IMO.

@geniusmusing No, I have the blue one that costs about $20. I tend not to do FIPS for personal things because it takes too long for those standards to update when "best" security advice changes. One can end up with worse security because of choosing FIPS compatibility.

http://status.hackerposse.com/url/22685 [mikestone me] "I Don't Trust GitHub" I'm not big on #GitHub (even before Microsoft bought them), but my impression of DMCA is that GH did not have any say about closing repositories. The claims in the DMCA request may have been garbage, but #Microsoft GitHub doesn't get to choose. They have to disable access to those repos or be liable f…

Trying to recall which of the Highlander movies I saw with #sonOne when we had our weekly movie during his high school years.

I think it was the 1994 movie.

My county's food safety inspector caught a restaurant cook:
(1) Not washing hands
(2) Not cleaning utensils and surfaces between orders
(3) Not monitoring temperatures
The manager on duty did not know these things were required (No ServSafe certification)

Time to switch from pajama shorts to long PJs. Overnight temperature hit 42°F outside, 65°F inside.

Reading about some of the state propositions, so I can finally finish filling out my ballot.
-
Okay, now I've chosen all my votes. I need to make sure I got everything (including the signature) before I seal the ballot envelope.
I saw somewhere that up to 1 in 4 mailed ballots are discarded for missing a valid signature.
-
So if you lived alone, you'd have to find someone who 'witnessed' that you are you and that you voted without outside influence? I'm sorry, that's stupid.
What about abusive couples? The controlling, abusive spouse won't sign as witness until checking to ensure the other person's votes mirror their own?
