The only case I know where you can use a double tag indicator is when you're sending to a tag list of users, eg. @#locals (where I've added the #locals tag to my subscription of their account, see https://n2.federati.net/bobjonkman2/subscriptions for an example of #duffer ) -

Echosa (echosa)'s status on Thursday, 25-Feb-2016 14:35:16 EST Echosa @bobjonkman2 That means nothing to the average user. The average user sees another social outlet where they move and their friends don't so back they go. Google+ all over again. It doesn't help that the average user doesn't really give a shit about libre, freedom, or privacy, either. That's at least starting to change in very recent history. -
Echosa (echosa)'s status on Thursday, 25-Feb-2016 11:10:11 EST Echosa @tuxxus Here's my biggest issue with recruiting people to !gnusocial from, say, Twitter. When I browse Social, I see things I like: a lot of tech discussion, etc. I don't see a lot of general discussion that would be of any interest to most people I know. The content just isn't there for most people, so they see little reason to switch. It's almost like Google+ all over again. A few p… -
Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Thursday, 25-Feb-2016 15:40:17 EST Bob Jonkman @chr (!gnusocial) doesn't start with a ! and so isn't a bangtag. Neither a feature nor a bug, it just doesn't meet the definition. -
Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Thursday, 25-Feb-2016 15:34:19 EST Bob Jonkman @echosa It's not the fault of those people, but the closed apps that run every proprietary service. If #GooglePlus and #Facebook were available using a standard #XMPP client the average user wouldn't care either, but they would have the ability to mix'n'match their discussion no matter where it took place. Those services would then also be in competition with each other, leading … -

Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Thursday, 25-Feb-2016 14:00:53 EST Bob Jonkman @echosa The big difference between !GNUsocial and #GooglePlus is that the entire corpus of GNUsocial is available through standard protocols. I can't even view GooglePlus in my feed reader, never mind adding a message from a 3rd party client. -
Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Feb-2016 19:28:04 EST Bob Jonkman @futt @mitchconner Just the language in your replies (and the inability to follow a thread) convinces me that it is necessary to enforce community standards. -

Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Feb-2016 18:02:02 EST Bob Jonkman I don't understand why you're urging us to clear out of #Github -- hiring people to work on community management and anti-harassment tools seems like a good thing to me. -
Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Feb-2016 13:25:08 EST Bob Jonkman No, gs.sdf.org is staying, as far as I know. I got confused when @tom@s.karp.id.au said he was shutting down his site, he left https://gs.sdf.org/thomask as his new presence, and I got them backwards. -
