@maiyannah afaik #Jitsi is one of the more actively developed, feature rich desktop !xmpp clients, but it suffers from appeals-to-normal-human syndrome. It's got bells, whistles etc.

I think I'm going to move on my XMPP account from moshpirit at quitter.es to my old account moshpirit at mijabber.es
Don't worry, my !gnusocial account will stay here :) this is a lovely place to "queet"

Wow, why have I been waiting so long to try out #Maxs services for Android? Super easy, awesome remote control of your mobile device (via commands). Recommended use is !xmpp as transport. Found in #F-Droid.
-
@maiyannah Thank @zash who's one of the people making the !XMPP magic work in #Prosody!
-
The !XMPP feature for this is called "message carbons", #XEP-0280. There is a prosody-module for this.
However, the clients _also_ need to support it to actually receive copies (because just force-copying messages is _not_ what you want and brings all kinds of horrible mental pains)

@maiyannah You can decide which port you use in the SRV record as well ;)
All !XMPP servers should obey the SRV configuration.
Also: It's the ID that can't change, not the SRV records. And you can put SRV records for subdomains too. It's sort of like SNI - except with your ID. When you connect to a server you tell it which host you want and which local user you want to identify for.

With ojsxc you can post to !gnusocial via !xmpp from within !owncloud

Conversations 1.11.0 (XMPP client) supports OMEMO encryption in private conferences! I think that its one client that is far ahead of the rest. It makes xabber and Pidgin look ancient.

@takeshitakenji Jingle is how !XMPP does VoIP (and file transfers and other preferrably p2p stuff) yes.
-
@maiyannah Then !XMPP is exactly what you want. Personally I offer automagic account logins to anyone on #quitter.is and #quitter.es with an authentication module for #prosody that just piggybacks !GNUsocial's user table. So anyone on those servers can log in with their GS credentials :)
Authentication module including sample config: https://social.umeahackerspace.se/attachment/59391

@maiyannah Mumble's awesome for multiuser (as well as one-on-one) voice chats. Confidential one-on-one VoIP is perfectly feasible with !XMPP too.

#Monal (the !XMPP client I recommend to iPhone users) is getting Client State Indication, Message Archive Management and HTTP Upload

@lnxw48 #XMPP servers generally already support blocking other nodes by domain name. It's maybe more sensitive in a public environment like this, but rather than "opposing networks" (in a way that's correct though) I think end-users will be encouraged to have multiple accounts in various sub-fediverses :)

@echosa It's not the fault of those people, but the closed apps that run every proprietary service. If #GooglePlus and #Facebook were available using a standard #XMPP client the average user wouldn't care either, but they would have the ability to mix'n'match their discussion no matter where it took place. Those services would then also be in competition with each other, leading …

Alright got !gnusocial working with #xmpp more or less. Something wrong with my activemq configuration so I'm using the db backend for now. Would like to get STOMP working. If anyone has a config for activemq stomp they use I'd love to see it.

Time to dive into #xmpp config !gnusocial

aaaand success with #xmpp !gnusocial /cc @n2admin
it was a combination of a rather stupid ypot on my part, but mostly, certificate permissions, order of cert in the bundle (backwards from the "pem" format). in any event, xmpp@crosstalk.co came online and said 'hey you..verify!'
