!gnusocial #xmpp as soon as I enable the xmpp plugin, console starts spitting out this error: http://pastebin.com/LTGYnMeZ
it's not an authenticationn issue, as far as the user/host/server are concerned -- it connects with a client, etc. Any pointers, suggestions?

@hundur hmm no love there :(. I'll try other things while I'm dinking around with it #xmpp !gnusocial

!XMPP !gnusocial join moes_tavern@conf.netlab.cz for chat
-
@lnxw48 @benfell well, not so low trafic about !xmpp
But there are many users at !gnusocial that still not discovered #thepowerofgroups ;)

@grace Also your #quitter.is account works as an !XMPP account ;)
(there's no interaction, just the same credentials)

@hikerus @birgitmathon Yeah, !GNUsocial is public by design. Use other tools for private or otherwise hidden communication .) Like !xmpp
You can run a private instance but then, of course, you lose federation.
-
Reminding people you can contact me by !xmpp at taknamay@wtfismyip.com, just tell me what your ID is on !gnusocial

Aurrrrggghhh, so many steps just to make a simple !XMPP #Jingle call: https://git.collabora.com/cgit/farstream.git/tree/examples/commandline/simple-call.c

!XMPP is the name of the standard. Jabber is trademarked by Cisco. :)

@shujinarazaki Oh, I think the !xmpp plugin for !gnusocial will have trouble with PHP7. Is that what you're trying? I haven't tried upgrading yet myself...
-
Yeah, there's something odd about that !XMPP plugin. And the upstream library is pretty dead.
-
I underuse the !XMPP bridge for !GNUsocial.
-
@xrevan86 *out of bounds checking that you just added me on !xmpp* Right?
-
Yay, new !XMPP friends! @chimo @heluecht
-
@kzimmermann Also, any properly setup !XMPP server needs these settings: https://prosody.im/doc/dns
Make sure that you have them all setup and that the DNS settings + TLS certificate is set for the _domain name_ of your account (like 'snackr.se', not the hosting server name, like 'xmpp.hethane.se'). And make sure you don't use CNAMEs in the SRV configuration.

@modemjunkie @mv @sazius I think wherever possible we should be trying to promote open communications standards like #xmpp
-
Now (finally) I have cut off ties with the #gmail.com !xmpp server (server to server encryption is required).
-
The #letsencrypt certificate chain is now live on the !gnusocial and #xmpp instances! #feelingfancy

@cmhobbs I would suggest getting a separate XMPP account, which you only use as an alternative !gnusocial feed reader ;) (and then have that feed show up with irssi-xmpp instead of generating a phone notification each time) cc: @jim @lnxw48 Maybe the !xmpp plugin should allow setting a specific resource to send to as well, then you wouldn't get the message to your phon…
