@maiyannah I first thought you were making a morbid amputation joke about your "second half". But now I think I'm the one who ended up doing it instead.

The !XMPP feature for this is called "message carbons", #XEP-0280. There is a prosody-module for this.
However, the clients _also_ need to support it to actually receive copies (because just force-copying messages is _not_ what you want and brings all kinds of horrible mental pains)

@maiyannah I'm guessing ignore_presence_priority means you assume all clients have the same priority. The algorithm when communicating with someone is "hello bare@jid", which gets sent to the highest priority client of user "bare@jid", or copies if there are multiple with the same priority. If you set a higher priority for one (or more) clients, only that/those will ge…

@maiyannah But since all good clients default to priority 0 unless you explicitly choose something else, ignore_presence_priority is only a workaround for annoying defaults in crappy clients.

@maiyannah I believe some clients are pragmatic and don't reply to the bare@jid/resource (#Conversations?). They always send to the bare@jid since there have for a long time been only a few clients around that support carbons and sending to the bare JID is the next best thing but of course lacks all the flexibility and important session metadata.

@maiyannah I guess you have to throw all your iDevices in the bin and get some real portable computers.

@maiyannah Alright, sell them for whatever second-hand value they have with iNuts and purchase triple the amount of specification-wise superior unrestricted hardware.
