Winter weather advisory across much of #KS and #MO. Snow and "mixed precipitation" in the northern and middle areas, freezing rain in the southern areas.
Expected to start this evening and continue for about 24 hours.
#NOAA / #NWS is sending alerts, but I have not read all of them yet.

I’ve heard that Chicken Mary’s and Chicken Annie’s were featured on some foodie show as having really good fried chicken. If I ever make it to Pittsburg #KS, I need to stop long enough to try both places.

Uh oh. #NOAA / #NWS is sending Red Flag warnings for much of #KS and #MO, including the Kansas City and Saint Louis areas. Also affecting portions of SW #IL. Strong winds and low relative humidity mean that any fires will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. And also Red Flag warnings for portions of #San_Bernardino and #Riverside Counties in #SoCal. Gusty winds…

No changes from yesterday's post. I don't have the time to follow-up with everyone individually, sadly. Please feel free to translate this as many of the regions left are predominantly not English-speaking. It's that time again. We are looking for regional judges for the Creative Commons Community Music Awards. Please let me know if you would be interested in taking a region. …

We are looking for regional judges for the Creative Commons Community Music Awards. Please let me know if you would be interested in taking a region. Hmm. I've noticed that no one ever seems to have a positive impression of #IA. I've worked for months at a time in some neighboring states ( #NE, #MO, #KS ) and never had a similar impression about them. What's especially bad about Iowa?
(I've also worked in #MS and #LA, so I might just have a rosier view.)

If you're in or near #MO or #KS, there are severe #t-storm warnings streaming from #NOAA / #NWS, including #tornado warnings between Jefferson City and Hermann. Make sure your phone has emergency alerts turned on.

The storm near Joplin is getting bigger and the most active area has partitioned into three areas. First is stronger than the others, and mostly in #KS, with some spillover into #MO and #OK, moving W and especially SW. The other two are smaller and weaker, moving SE.
Watching it because there are three grandkids near this storm.

#NOAA / #NWS issuing #t-storm, flash flooding, excessive heat alerts for SE #KS and SW #MO. If you’re in the area, tune to your local news to find out what responses are advised.

One #Kansas farmer feeds more than 155 people--and you!
Or so the signs say. https://nu.federati.net/url/273351
#KS #farming
I do not know where the number is derived from. But if other "factory farm" type agricultural enterprises are similarly productive, then they may feed the bulk of the world's population.

Severe #t-storm warnings across much of Kansas City (the #KS side, #KCK) right now. 60MPH wind gusts, large hailstones. Radar indicated. This system is moving eastward at about 35 MPH

Some severe #t-storms coming through parts of #KS and #MO tonight. Also #IL. I have no information about storms in #NE, #IA, #AR, or #OK.
So far, I've seen no tornado alerts, but #NOAA / #NWS is pumping out severe thunderstorm, flash flooding, and minor river / stream flooding alerts this evening.
-
inws is getting annoying again. There were severe storms in #KS and #MO over the past few days, so now I'm getting overloaded with alerts about streams and rivers that are at minor flood stage. The reason it is annoying is because they cannot consolidate all the flooding alerts for a particular area (or even a particular stream or river as it flows through a particular area), s…

The #NOAA / #NWS flash flood and theurban & small stream flooding warnings for the #KS - #MO border area are ending. I received about 30-35 messages about it between last night and this morning.

#NOAA / #NWS sending #tornado warning for the Kansas City area. Both #KS and #MO, near Leavenworth, Atchison, St Joseph until 15:00 CDT.
If you're in the area, take cover now.

Okay, I think that's going on our calendar whenever I'm in that area. ("Our" == me, #sonTwo and his wife, #GS3; potentially #GS1 and / or #GS2, too, as they are in that corner of #KS.)

Next time I'm in SE #KS and SW #MO, I want to visit Pittsburg and try the chicken. http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20200429-americas-fried-chicken-war
