Another thing that we lost when Mastodon's ads brought a flood of people in from Twitter and Tumblr who neither knew nor were willing to adopt the then-prevailing practices of the network they joined. -

My high school's first graduating class had their umpteen millionth anniversary reunion last year. They invited the next twenty years of classes to join in. If I'm still around when my class reaches that number, I hope they do the same thing (except +/- 20 years). There are only a few people I'd want to see to begin with, but some of them graduated the same year as one of my siblings, instead of the same year as me. -

Cautionary tale: If we promote legalization of cannabis solely by pointing to tax revenue, someone could point to California's disappointing results as a counter-argument.
(I do think that #CA is a special case. We have an insane regulatory environment, and pot is not exempt from those regs. That's likely a big part of it.) -

How is my phone ( with a number from Jefferson City, #MO [ #JCMO ] ) getting all these spam SMS and MMS messages from #Los_Angeles #CA numbers. Granted, I'm in #SoCal, but the spammers long ago switched to spoofing numbers from one's own area code. -

@moonman There is a resurgence of anti-anything-that-is-not-masto-approved sentiment. I saw a convo where an app developer claimed Pleroma was evil because the format of an ID string or something differ's from what Mastodon uses. And that they are free riders because they use the Mastodon client-server API. I mean, really? Come on. You don't have to like Project X or Server Y …
