Okay, I think I found all of the content. I'm going to try to separate it out into individual posts as text files. -

@guizzy @coolboymew There was also a very high pitched sound produced by CRTs. NTSC (US-standard) CRTs produced a sound at 15000 Hz that got louder during darker moments such as the second or so of blackness before a commercial started.
That one is definitely less audible as one gets older. At some point, it probably becomes completely inaudible (but I haven't had a CRT in many years). -

@guizzy "... you stop hearing it as you age."
Either you're a few decades older than I thought, or it just hasn't happened to me yet. I've lost some high-end hearing (to they point that I can no longer hear a conversation in a crowded, noisy area), but I can still hear AC hum. -

If you're used to driving a Honda Accord, you still have to learn something if you're going to drive a city transit bus. It isn't the same, even though there is a superficial resemblance. -

Why would you even be in #Walmart if you're near a #Target? Isn't that considered self-abuse? -

That "Oh, shit" feeling when you're scrolling through the SQL of your only surviving DB backup and over 2,000 lines into the file, you still don't see any of the content that you were trying to preserve. There's still another 50% to go, but I may have bad news for a family member: your neglected Drupal site's content is gone. -

Speculation: YT changed its TOS to make it easier to delete channels if they aren't making Google money. Perhaps the resuscitated channels are partly because people don't want to deal with the hassle of possibly losing their Gmail accounts with the YT account / channel. -

@sean About the drinking water thing, is the water too fouled for some sort of filtering system? Some places, something similar to the Brita pitcher might be enough. I don’t know whether that would help in your vicinity, but if it doesn’t, then next time you’re in a larger town, visit a camping supplies store. I’m sure they’d have something. -

Seeing @moonman’s progress with the walking is gladdening to the heart. Many years ago, I used to walk to and from my college campus five times per week. By the shortest route, it was 13 miles (but I usually went the 15 mile route in the morning to avoid loose dogs). That works out to around 45 km per day, and yes, my legs and joints were constantly a little sore. I slept l… -

Does anyone make chest cams for civilians? Ugh, I’m getting pulled over for no reason. Time to trigger the automatic ACLU streamer!
I know there are cell phone apps for this, but would a hardware version of this be a nice reminder for everyone involved to act civilly?

A couple of years ago, a local woman stabbed a couple of dogs that had be unrestrained in an open garage and attacked her dog as they walked past. Two of them died on the spot.
She had repeatedly asked the owners to restrain their dogs, but they had refused. (As a frequent pedestrian, I rejoiced when I learned that she would not be charged with animal cruelty, but I wished the owners had been charged.)
