Always fun to see your experiment called out in comments in a 3rd-party codebase: "However ATLAS complained that they sometimes have NaN's in <variable> and this interferes with some of their internal validation." What a bunch of whiners, ATLAS. :-)

Forgot to finish my coffee this morning when I had my #YoCo ( #yogurt and #coffee ). Saw some fresh evidence of hornworm damage on tomato plants, but I did not find the culprit. A smaller all-green caterpillar ???? has been munching on radishes, turnips, beets. I’ve recently captured a couple of them and dropped them on the entrance to the ants’ home. They are dragged in…

#sonTwo’s wife had a medical appointment. The doctor said her job is too stressful ... so now she’s got the added stress of trying to find a less-stressful job or the stress of them trying to stay afloat without her income.

idk what she does, but Perforce has given us an extra day off for Easter, Memorial Day, and July 4. extra day as in not marked as an official company holiday. I suspect this is a covid-only situation. I only have two years, but word on the street is they give us either the week of Christmas or New Years off each year "unannounced". I can confirm this has happened the last two y…

Saying that "faculty do their best teaching in-person" is a little like saying "painters do their best work in oils". Faculty must aspire to be teaching artists; their true canvas is lecture, discussion, demonstration, assessment. How they paint their masterpiece is up to them.

My pandemic dreams are getting weirder. I dreamed of attending a movie in a theater, acted out in the audience ala "Rocky Horror". It was a Matt Damon film called "The Awesomeness". He was in a blond mullet wig. There was a long musical number about pizza and wings.

Remember when #Twitter first started restricting API access, promoting useless and easily duplicated uses like Klout over uses that provided improved user interfaces?

One thing's for sure. Forbes put a lot of effort into making Kanye sound like a nutcase. I mean, he is one, but that article accentuates it. They take a "lovable kook" and turn him into "the next Unabomber".

Hey, wait a minute! Did you ever think about what is in the water in a sewer? Or what it smells like?

Found a #hydroxychloroquine study from late June: http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21595 This one appears to be favorable toward using the malaria drug as a treatment for #COVID-19 ... suggests the drug should be given early in the treatment program. Remember, this is a drug that is known to have dangerous side-effects. Some studies seem find positive results, but some seem t…

WEDNESDAY, July 1, 2020 (HealthDay News) -- Scientists are reporting an early step toward an HIV drug that could potentially be taken only a couple of times per year. A single injection of the experimental drug, called lenacapavir, was able to lower blood levels of HIV in a small group of patients. And it was capable of maintaining active levels in the blood for more than six m…

From COVID19Tracking http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21582 on Twitter: Although new cases continue to grow, testing providers are being overwhelmed. Turnaround times are lengthening; the supply chain is stressed. In a place like Arizona, this may mean that we wont see rapid increases in cases because testing cannot scale with the outbreak. http://status.hackerposse.com/…
