Thought: some performers probably regret the voice tricks they did when recording a song. For years afterward, they have to do it again in concert after concert, night after night.
I'm thinking about the singer in The Trammps' Disco Inferno. Unless they used tape for much of his audio in concerts, he had to have a very raw throat.

@mangeurdenuage That order was very recent. No agencies have even written their implementation rules yet.

I searched for “fooled around and fell in love” and found this: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/guitarists-daughter-linked-to-plot/ [www cbsnews com] year 2000 article about the deaths of Elvin Bishop’s ex-wife and daughter.

I saw an interesting ad. A group of people designed a skimmer boat for cleaning plastic in the oceans. It sounds like they're relying on donations (and the sale of trinkets) for their funding. The project is called "4Ocean":{https://www.4ocean.com}

@mangeurdenuage Family gaming night! That's what I was trying to do when I bought my sons #PS4 and #Switch consoles, but so far, we've never had everyone together in one session.

Some day someone will decipher the #Q posts (that the #QAnon folks follow). I predict the true meaning will be "Q-ack Q-ack" and the author will turn out to be a duck that escaped from the zoo.

> >hy does flashing your phone have to be so complicated and error-prone >Why are most popular tools to get root access are proprietary ? Good question. I don't have an answer, but I do have a related question: Why do all mobile operating systems fight so hard against giving the user control over their own device? If users could install every application they want without filt…

Surprise visit to #SoCal by my nephew #Papaya and his family (younger brother of #lazyNephew). They're here for a few days from #TX.
-
Nephew's girlfriend: It's good to be around normal people for once.
Sister (nephew's mom): You told her we're normal?
Nephew: Compared to her family, we are.
Nephew's girlfriend: My family is really weird. This is nothing.

"Its Morning in America Again" One of the great victims of the four-year experiment of American Fascism has been science, along with scientific thinking. Readers of my past essays in this blog are well aware that, already in the past, this nation had a real struggle with critical thinking. Iâ**ve worried in the past about efforts like â**The Wedge Strategy,â** â*¦ Co…

I forgot to congratulate my oldest brother on X years of marriage. (Where X is the number of years since my 10th or 11th birthday, I can't recall which. His wedding was about a week after my birthday.)

> Most americans, particularly liberals but also non-liberals, will have a complete meltdown over a difference of opinion, even minor ones. Not only can you not be civil after that, they will actively be aggressive and seek it out, its horrible.https://qoto.org/@freemo/105170335154969154 @freemo I agree fully. When I was in college and university, while we were doing our studyi…

Maybe in California, but I've never experienced anyone having meltdown because they disagreed with me. Then again, i don't go around telling people they should get rid of their cars and go vegan. If they can't see that it's obviously a better choice since I'm fitter than them ()
-
Ugh, typo...basically, aside from a handful of elite cyclists, I'm going to be fitter than most people was my parathentical. You probably get the point.

Oh, I've seen it all over the country, and not just from California residents.

@guizzy @moon@shitposter.club All of this really points back to Florida's issues with "butterfly ballots" in 2000. Apparently, many voters found them confusing. Plus, people punched their ballots incompletely, leading to "dangling chads", which could prevent a vote from being counted. The idea is that electronic voting machines could avoid both of those issues. Naturally, in or…

Though I think the current machines transmit the count electronically, so the voter need never touch the transcript (which is preserved in case of recounts).

Is there something there that tells why policykit needs a JavaScript interpreter? JavaScript + security are traditionally incompatible.

A lady I once worked with grew up in Alaska. She told me that kids 8 years and older carried hunting rifles, so they could prevent the polar bears from eating them at school bus stops.
