@gameragodzilla Like I wouldn't say its awful and I thought better of it at the time since there wasn't too many games of its type out but it doesnt hold up as well in retrospect. Doom 4 does the same kind of thing WAY WAY better. -

@gameragodzilla I had a really hard time with it. It's a game that emphasises movement and positioning in it's mechanics, and then takes away the jump button.
Hell, even in COD you can jump. Like an inch. -

@gameragodzilla Some people would argue Bulletstorm but I feel like the only retro shooter fan who hated Gears of Painkiller. -

@gameragodzilla I actually somewhat expected to see or hear about another Serious Sam revival given CroTeam were filling that niche before this revival but there's been nothing. -

@gameragodzilla Painkiller, it, and Hard Reset, though it was arguably the best of the three. And yet no one's really followed since, except for Machine Games and iD, whom are related through their publisher anyways. -

@laemeur There's been good ones and bad ones, but the bad ones outnumber the good ones considerably. I think what bothers me mostly about this one over any other single thing is the general impression I have of it being superficial and very "style over substance". And I can already hear me saying the same thing after having seen it only for people to say "but its… -

@gameragodzilla Yeah WTNOs success has driven renewed interest and Doom 4 proved it wasn't just a fluke, but we seem to have trouble getting this out of the non-iD-and-friends group -

@gameragodzilla The whole thing smacks of "me too" trend following after the AAA studios without having confidence in their own design, IMO -

As is my current workflow is examining the logs, finding hubouts failing with 404s and the like, going into phpMyAdmin or the CLI, dropping those subs, repeat occasionally.
Seems like something we could make easier than we do. -

@gameragodzilla Sad that there's no way to get the stability fixes in the original pre-fuckabout version. -

I should probably write a way to manage the hub subscriptions from the admin panel. There can be appreciable slowdowns if you run into instances that are no longer responsive, because if they are DROPing packets or just dead air then you have to wait for the TCP timeout before moving onto the next hubout.
I will probably make this part of the admin panel when I redesign it following the render code rewrite. -

@andstatus @thefaico While an instance should filter bad inputs, the ideal solution to bad inputs is not to send them to begin with. -

@gameragodzilla Imagine how people who got bit by the Shadow Warrior savegame bug between versions felt. -

@andstatus @thefaico I apparently cannot convey the fact that the application sending messages when I do not desire it to is a malfunction and I have greater priorities with my time than getting into continual arguements about this. Sorry. -

@gameragodzilla Most publishers are in it for the money and it shows.
The unfortunate thing is, so are many devs.
So, ultimately, the two are made for each other. -

@gameragodzilla Dishonored 2 seems like Dishonored: Another One, just with a shitter engine.
I'll still have to pick it up though, once I'm through my backlog.
(Working on the Sunless Sea review now. Burnt most of today fixing the bullshit weird breaking this thing did) -

@gameragodzilla As the saying goes, "squeaky wheel gets the grease". FHI has just been quietly releasing decent quality games, some of which were quite good, so they don't get that same attention.
There is that grain of truth in "no press is bad press" - the bad press can get you a lot of attention. -

@gameragodzilla Summer next year was what I heard but that wasn't from an official source.
