Thing I'm resolving not to do anymore: I am not Mastodon.social's welcome mat. If they can't bother to explain Federation to their users, I'm not going to. He gets paid to develop that thing, he can earn that money. I'm doing this shit for free in my spare time with the occasional donation. -

@takeshitakenji Evan Prodromou was the original creator of both StatusNet and Pump.io, I think he was hoping to leverage Identi.ca's userbase to grow his new attempt at the protocol but since it broke federation basically what he ended up doing was splitting the userbase. -

@takeshitakenji Given the types that seem to be joining of late, he's probably going to have problems at home rather than abroad shortly enough. -

Skepticism of all claims is important. Indeed, it is even more important to be skeptical of claims that we wish to believe, because if we wish to believe those things, then we are more likely to be taken. And those whom are younger, that do not have a body of negative experiences that have taught them that people will use the unsuspecting, are thus less likely to… -

"A Stanford study of 7,804 middle school, high school and college students has found that most of them couldn't identify fake news on their own. Their susceptibility varied with age, but even a large number of the older students fell prey to bogus reports." Gee, its almost like the old people weren't so much the ones spoiling the vote as the were the ones that had a… -

I am so tired, might end up taking a day just to rest. At least this med, strange as it makes me feel occasionally, seems to have evened out other things. -

If you believe in democracy until your opponent wins, then you don't believe in democracy.
If you believe in free speech until you disagree or get offended by someone, you don't believe in free speech.
If you're for the little guy until he stops following your orders, you're not helping the little guy.
You just want power with a thin veneer of democracy. Like a People's Republic. -

@cphuntington97 @mokka I cannot speak to Mastodon specifically, but an edit within the existing Fediverse is entirely possible. You would just need to change the current message to deletion text (what happens in GNU social/postActiv when you delete something anyways), and then set the current message to supercede the old one. You would just create a new ActivityV… -

@verius For us at the time, low level is machine or byte code for the microcontroller, mid level is intermediate assembler for interfacing code, high level was anything above that. We were programming individual chips after all. -

@verius Pretty much any of the high level stuff I did at my old job was C++ or PHP depending on intended application.
