@gargron My suggestion is that we distinguish this social network as public (just as blogs are public). Privacy should be achieved via networks and technologies designed for it - such as !xmpp.
The !OStatus technologies are all based on the open, linkable web. Trust is only possible on ::1

While both #OStatus and #Pump use #ActivityStreams, it's my understanding those implementations are not compatible. @colegota What are you trying to accomplish with this? I have never used Friendica and I'm not sure what you'd use the OAuth for except for duplicating posts, which is entirely unnecessary since Friendica speaks !OStatus.

@laemeur The only things that are sent to individual receivers in !OStatus are salmon slaps (directed replies/mentions to remote users/groups that may not get your posts through a normal subscription).

@bes Note that !OStatus itself doesn't actually care since the IDs are URIs anyway. Just our implementation in !GNIsocial to avoid future trouble in upgrading .)

Sort of off-topic, but the owner of that site was saying he might not renew hosting when that time comes. We do need to make sure such documentation for !gnusocial and related things (such as #OStatus) is available elsewhere, too.
