I was on the #Pump.io #Github site yesterday and found a wiki page about servers. Not the usual Pump servers, but servers that provide services that most federated socnets generate from each instance. For example, RagTag\.io was to provide hashtagging for the network. @moonman You could have patched #Pump.io to support AP. Since its protocol is the direct ancestor of ActivityPub, much of what you'd need is likely already there in basic form.
I suspect that it would already have happened if Alex (currently main maintainer) wasn't busy with college. -

@sean Evan was hugely focused on #Pump.io (instead of us), until his resources ran out and he got involved with a new start up. This is also when some of his Pump-related domains were lost.

It isn't surprising that he's active on #Twitter and #Facebook, just that Pump is still not compatible with anything else. (And that his personal Pump instance, E14N.com is gone.) -

@tealturtle I knew of some people from West Africa (but none from Southern or Central Africa) years ago, before the #bifurcation.

I think they were #lost to the #corpocentric networks when Identica switched to #Pump.io and many #StatusNet instances closed. -

@dude Hmm. This complicates the plan to add a #Pleroma instance for !FNetworks before we upgrade to !gnusocial 2.0. I'm not really interested in hosting incompatible services (one reason why planned #Diaspora and #Pump.io instances were abandoned). -

@maloki It's interesting that a couple of years ago we discussed a generic term for our networks (including #GNUSocial and #PumpIo), and that time I came to conclusion that "Social network" is far better term than "Microblogging".
