I see a hosted version at https://about.heptapod.host/

The #Matrix / #Element company is buying #Gitter from #GitLab and merging Gitter features into their Element client.
@clacke has links to the blog post and to an interview about it. -

Strypey (strypey)'s status on Monday, 30-Mar-2020 07:26:10 EDT Strypey #Mistserver is a #Livestreaming server package which, like a bunch of other projects (notably #GitLab), make some of its source code available as a hobbled "open source edition", lacking features present in a "pro" version:

Chimo (chimo)'s status on Wednesday, 05-Sep-2018 22:55:05 EDT Chimo The way #Gitlab's paid features are categorized seems …odd. If I want "Epics" I suddenly need the most expensive tier? -

Unfortunately, "Issues" aren't part of the public repository, and so they cannot be duplicated easily. That time I decided that Issues in Gitlab are subpar compared to Githubs, so I stayed with Github for communication wit… -

Chimo (chimo)'s status on Monday, 16-Jan-2017 15:37:31 EST Chimo OTOH, #gitlab has a more extensive API, which I could use right now. I don't think I have a beefy enough machine around for it though. -
Mike Gerwitz (mikegerwitz)'s status on Sunday, 24-Jan-2016 14:44:39 EST Mike Gerwitz On that note, !gnusocial should not distribute a #GoogleAnalytics plugin, or even recommend an external one. It already distributes a #Piwik plugin, and that should be enough; GA is proprietary spyware.
I wrote about GA with regards to #GitLab (and their move to #Piwik) here, which states some of the problems:

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Friday, 15-Jan-2016 14:19:16 EST MMN-o ✅⃠ @andresinmp Both Mercurial and Git are easy to self-serve via SSH and/or HTTP. If you want an issue tracker to go with that, look for an issue tracker.
Complete solutions appear to be #Gogs (what notabug.org runs a fork of) and #GitLab (the crippled aka "community" edition). Phabricator sucked hard when I tried to use it. -

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Thursday, 10-Dec-2015 06:19:48 EST MMN-o ✅⃠ @mikael Define good. If what you want is "issue tracker and merge requests" you can try that #gogs (or the notabug.org fork of it) or the crippled version of #gitlab. -
Bob Mottram (bashrc)'s status on Friday, 04-Dec-2015 08:03:56 EST Bob Mottram It may be worth considering what a post-Github world would look like. Can #Gogs or #Gitlab be federated and have discoverable projects? -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Monday, 15-Jun-2015 13:58:30 EDT MMN-o ✅⃠ @lanodan We have issues with importing stray items when they aren't delivered via PuSH :)
What you're asking for is a good feature. It's just that we're all volunteers, so it's sometimes hard to find the time. If you want to, you can add it to the issue list on https://git.gnu.io/gnu/gnu-social/issues
You'll need to create an account since #GitLab sucks and can't use OpenID providers for authentication.
