Free Software Foundation (fsf)'s status on Thursday, 03-May-2018 16:36:39 EDT Free Software Foundation With "clear history," #Facebook is clearly attempting to placate an angry public and defend itself against scrutiny, but they're leaving it up to you to protect your privacy, when they shouldn't be collecting your data in the first place. https://u.fsf.org/2kh -

Openness and Transparency are orthogonal to Federation, although the Closed, Proprietary corporations are also the ones least likely to federate. You raise an int… -

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Friday, 21-Oct-2016 14:51:12 EDT MMN-o ✅⃠ @zoowar There's no reason to assume that fake identity will continue to exist, as fake names explicitly go against the #ECLA (end customer license agreement) with #Facebook.
Also, I believe you need to supply a phone number nowadays when registering with Facebook, or didn't you have to do that? -

Of course they have.

Roland Häder (roland)'s status on Sunday, 09-Oct-2016 15:42:40 EDT Roland Häder @bob i guess mire that most will go to #whatsapp or #facebook and maybe some will come to us. Most people are on such #corporate #social #network (it is no real network as !gnusocial, #diaspora and #friendica are) so people from #twitter will likely follow them. -
Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Monday, 20-Jun-2016 01:13:11 EDT Bob Jonkman @kzimmermann But none of those ( #Facebook, #Whatsapp, #Instagram, #Linkedin, #Microsoft) were ever #FAIF. So I don't see what difference a few acquisitions makes for the free individual. -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Apr-2016 04:21:43 EDT MMN-o ✅⃠ @tuttle Last weekend I was ready to stay home instead of going to a "fix/remake" workshop (me representing !umehack) because they hadn't setup _any_ communication outside of walled gardens (apart from collecting emails). I had told them they should get just an ordinary website. It didn't happen until I explained that only supporting walled gardens directly oppose a ha… -

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Saturday, 12-Mar-2016 04:19:43 EST MMN-o ✅⃠ Well ok, maybe the #Facebook one requires javascript to load all the way there even (I don't know, I don't use it). But at least when SO CALLED FRIENDS (those who get used by Facebook) run on a bad internet connection, like with #Tor, they often get that center-column-image-thing and I spend all of the 1.23 seconds of its screentime in mental agony. Then I continue tha… -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Saturday, 12-Mar-2016 04:17:42 EST MMN-o ✅⃠ The WORST. No, maybe not worst. But the nastiest, most insidious, thing I experience on the web must be sites that require javascript to _fully_ load. Not just "you need javascript". But "here you go, all the HTML elements you need, table layout and whatnot - but most of them are PLACEHOLDERS". Wtf?! This happens on multiple sites where there is a long list of elements… -
Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman2)'s status on Thursday, 25-Feb-2016 15:34:19 EST Bob Jonkman @echosa It's not the fault of those people, but the closed apps that run every proprietary service. If #GooglePlus and #Facebook were available using a standard #XMPP client the average user wouldn't care either, but they would have the ability to mix'n'match their discussion no matter where it took place. Those services would then also be in competition with each other, leading … -
lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Sunday, 03-Jan-2016 22:22:30 EST lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @knuthollund I think that's an overall negative move for !python, especially the reason they chose #Github: most potential contributors are already familiar with it. If that's the motivation, why not render patches and edits as text and m…
