@musicman Yes, I think #git is overly complicated for most projects' needs, but it has mindshare, so people often demand it when another VCS would be more appropriate. It'd be great if transitioning from one to another was a well-understood problem, but it isn't.
Is that #Emacs that is trying to move from #svn to git with #ESR's help and having a difficult time of it?

#esr is an interesting `dialectic' sort of personality. I find him a likable guy, we strongly agree on some points and disagree on others. He's hard to handle for people who can't separate the pieces out; #cf.: http://eduposse.org/conversation/47#notice-52

#esr #dvcs #q: developers over the age of about 45 are very resistant to moving to DVCSes. Here’s the interesting part: it’s not because they don’t get that DVCSes are better tools – in fact, one common reason for resistance is “it would make changes by random people too easy”. http://esr.ibiblio.org/?p=3940&cpage=1#comment-339841
