TERRIBLE writeup on the Students for Free Culture blog, "Stop the Inclusion of Proprietary Licensess in !CC 4.0" http://ur1.ca/a1fyu -

exactly my point! viewing *is* downloading, saving or not ♻ @zotz: on the net, simple viewing amounts to receiving data from upstream -

@mlinksva I didn't see the thread, just a sentence that seemed to support the false dichotomy between download for viewing or saving -

@dothidden there is a ton of !cc work on flickr but © all rights reserved is the default...you have to understand that to change; most don't -

@laurelrusswurm just measure amount of works on #flickr under #cc and (c) -

@laurelrusswurm most of the fans have no benefit of the #cc -

@dothidden Allowed to ease into it, most artists are likley to embrace !cc and !copyleft (especially when fans melt away if they don't) -

@dothidden …that radical ideas like #Indie !selfPub and !CreativeCommons licenses mean it's only a matter of time until !copyright abolition -

@dothidden Agreed. Although it pains me, I could accept © all rights reserved if we were left alone/allowed to compete w/ Creative Commons… -

@laurelrusswurm it's much better to have a choice. Not everyone is ready to license his works under #cc -

@silner Until we get to !copyright abolition, we have to live with !copyright monopoly law. I think !CC NC is better than © ... -

but tiny chance of getting caught means to many don't stop. hence "love" of "piracy" by those bemoaning it. -

@zotz Big penalties give you show trials, all the better to frighten people -

@arnebab Even cc by-nc-sa sounded radical when explaining to my octogenarian father why he should release his CD with a CC license -

it is perverse that the chances of getting caught are so small but the penalties are so crazy. otherwise large pressure for change.
