About once per month, #DigitalOcean reminds me that I still have an account with them. I'm going to have to close the DO account soon. I haven't actively used it in years. -

post-tropical cyclone #Zeta continues to move rapidly. The center of the storm is over Delaware, about to cross into the ocean (most of the storm is already at sea). Yesterday afternoon / evening, it was heading into Louisiana and Mississippi. #NOAA / #NHC has issued its last advisory about the storm. http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21794 Along the way, parts of #DE #MD #VA … -

There was a 1989 movie called 'The Wizard' where a traumatized kid could only say 'California'. Near the end, they stopped at a dinosaur place in CA, and he left a photo of a dead sibling at the place where she'd had fun on a prior trip.
@guizzy's dinosaurs post reminded me. -

@mangeurdenuage I was mostly in "advanced" college prep classes (where they assumed we already knew about word roots, word stems, prefixes, suffixes), but I did get into one "normal" English class, where they had this as part of preparing for their weekly spelling tests. -

Shared #Daddy_A's financial status with his brothers. We're going to team up to get the kids some clothing and shoes. For some value of 'we', considering that I and #sonTwo's in-laws are already buying #GS3's clothes. -

@musicman I don't, but even simple logs can consume a surprising amount of storage. There is a reason why logrorate is needed. -

This seems like a lot: "store up to 2 years worth of metrics."
I guess it depends how much data is being collected, so that's what I need to figure out.
Anybody collecting metrics? How much do you store? -

I think I'm going to shut down the $EMPLOYER computer and just wait until next week. There are six #WinUpdates that the software center has been chewing on all day. They sit in "Waiting to install" state for an hour or two, then toggle to "Failed". Then I reboot and re-launch the software center. Time to stop running around in circles. -

#sonOne received a “Libre Computer” “Tritium” SBC, with a similar form factor to the !RasPi 3B as a birthday present. It was only $15, but he was still very appreciative, as he’s aware that I’m currently on unemployment benefits. -

#sonTwo’s main employer offered him a different job with slightly higher pay. It requires him to work during the time that his other job is on duty, so he’ll be quitting the 2nd job. Even though it’s a cut in their income (and things are already tight), I’m in favor of it. Hindsight taught me that working and taking classes and studying for 14-20 hours per day meant t… -

@geniusmusing It is my impression that Flash is also bundled in most Chromium-based browsers, so MSFT removing it may not be enough to make a computer completely free of Flash or its vulnerabilities. I guess it does mean IE and Edge will be free of it. -

I think I drove through #Lodi about a year ago on California 99. From the freeway, it looks pretty much like any other town in farm country.
I'd guess it was a lot more primitive at the time the song was written.
