    @davexunit What's interesting about this is not yet another license battle but the mere fact that I can see the site. It means that HN must have dropped their silly anti-Tor idiocy. Regularly posting articles railing against surveillance while simultaneously describing Tor users as "not legit" never seemed like an intellectually consistent position.

    So I'm going to give up on Matrix for now. It's just too difficult to configure, and it turns out that the identity server is centralised and doesn't federate.
    
    It's often the way that with things which describe themselves as decentralised that there sometimes turns out to be some fundamentally centralised component.
