maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 07:11:25 EST maiyannah @bob I don't know, there's still a lot of lazy and sloppy programming out there, and that is, ultimately, what creates the security problems. I do agree that there's definitely an increased acceptance of the risks that are created by insecure code however. -

Two main thoughts about this:
1] Is anyone surprised? With increasing government surveillance, the desire to avoid prying eyes is also increasing.
2] With how ubiquitous it is becoming, we cannot expect government actors to go without easy interception and cracking methods. And that's assuming they don't already have them. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 04:42:25 EST maiyannah @verius I think what a lot of people critical of Kirk (or any of the TOS tropey character writing) forget, is compared to the other sci fi writing at the time (Doctor Who for instance), pretty much everyone in TOS was pretty well-written. I do agree that nowadays Shatner's depiction is pretty overrated though.
