speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Sunday, 15-Mar-2015 20:02:56 EDT speeddefrost A rather unique thing about this specific problem is that it's also the driving force behind the perpetuation of the same industry it was derived through. This is also relevant to something I posted 2 days ago: http://micro.fragdev.com/url/64001 -
speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Sunday, 15-Mar-2015 19:56:02 EDT speeddefrost That's exactly what I was saying a little while ago. Computers have allowed for far more problems than solutions, a significant example of one being pornography addiction, which is arguably responsible for many real-world personal/relational/social issues. -

speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Sunday, 15-Mar-2015 19:43:57 EDT speeddefrost I was specifically meaning the manner in which their usually used nowadays. They are in fact purposeful for communication and the arrangement/presentation/storage of data, but other than that I'd argue it's nothing but noise. They provide nothing else besides endless illusions. -
speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Sunday, 15-Mar-2015 19:34:36 EDT speeddefrost Heh, don't worry. I recall him acting like this in reply to things I've said in the past. It isn't worth bothering with someone who refuses to question any "official" consensus and resorts to attacking your character instead of your argument. -
speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Sunday, 15-Mar-2015 19:05:56 EDT speeddefrost Computers were essentially a 'solution' without a problem. They just happened to create even more problems, and quite ironically with "more technology" as the recursive so-called solution. I agree completely. Actual solutions to worldly issues are prevented from being solved by capitalism's outright theft of resources actually needed to do so. Technological and virtual "solut… -

speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2015 18:46:50 EDT speeddefrost Because the old ones are always made artificially obsolete by the time the "new one" is available. All manufacturers do this and is why I will never own one. -
speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2015 18:33:41 EDT speeddefrost AI will never work with purely logical constructions. Perhaps instead all of this wasteful effort could go towards convincing hardware manufacturers to stop locking up their damned firmware -- because some of us actually care about security and privacy more than being able to yell at a computer for the whole world to hear. -
speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2015 18:27:18 EDT speeddefrost Yes, but that's where you're misunderstanding me. It's the same exact thing. This 'training' propagates downwards generation after generation because epigenitics. It's already been proven that exercise affects gene expression related to metabolism, fat burning, muscle development, etc. It's probably the same for intelligence/critical thinking; tendencies pronounce themselves over time. -
speeddefrost (speeddefrost)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2015 17:53:58 EDT speeddefrost Okay, but I'd imagine that limiting intelligence by influencing gene expression over a few generations is certainly possible and has likely already happened. How else did marketing become so malevolent but effective?
