A friend is using #Windows 10. It suddenly starts crashing within 15 minutes of booting. Frustration grows. I slide in, install #Ubuntu (dual boot) - clicket-i-click - the machine works fine. All desired software works perfectly.
Thank you #Microsoft for giving me this opportunity to introduce another person to (more or less) libre operating systems! -

@morph The DB entry for !politics on micro.morphtown.de had the same group/id as the !windows entry on s.morphtown.de does now, but because you only subscribe to !windows and don't host it locally it forwards to !windows@quitter.se -- best solution is to stop redirecting micro.morphtown.de to s.morphtown.de and just let requests to micro.morphtown.de fail -

when I began at my university we were thrown at #unix machines for emailing, browsing (I had back then only #msdos experience), after like 6 semesters or so I saw an increased supply of #windows on university pcs :-( -

@mk !Windows doesn't have nearly the number of alternate desktop environments or window managers. Sure, there are some 3rd party applications (Norton Desktop springs to mind) but the ease if trying something new is unsurpassed in GNU+Linux. Not to mention the safety of not using untrustworthy download sites -
