@bobjonkman I use #Tor with #Thunderbird because I just want to contribute some noise. Any actual browsing is done in the Tor browser, which is a separate connection altogether.

Using !Tor without #TorBrowser makes you vulnerable to DNS request leaks, and other nasties. I've seen this using #Thunderbird, which is just awful (ie. leaky) for all sorts of things (POP3, SMTP, IMAP, extensions). Not all data for every layer escapes, but there's enough leakage that anonymity is compromised. #TorBirdy is a Thunderbird plugin to reduce that kind of leakage. See h…

@hobbsc @bob I don't pretend to be an expert, but I don't think it unwise to use #tor on top of #Debian.

I'm not sure I like that the captcha on TPB was in Swedish despite browsing through #Tor (ordinary browser, so no additional privacy)

Ska tillaga "skivspill"-bitarna jag dumpstrade häromveckan och webblar efter hur lång tid de borde vara i ugnen. Genom #Tor Browser såklart, så ingen förknippar min IP-adress med köttkonsumtion.

@karl My first thought is that a !Tor hidden !GNUsocial site might need an application level proxy to translate the .onion address in all the URLs transmitted in messages. It would need to be a two-way proxy. But then I thought that would defeat the whole point of a Tor hidden service, even if it does hide the location of the actual server. Either I need to think more about this, …

@stigatle Entirely reasonable. I won't run a !Tor exit node for the same reason. BTW, you made the news on Twitter: ♻ @josephfcox Tor exit node operator from Norway allegedly visited by police over email threatening Angela Merkel. My day started by getting the police at my door because of my #tor exit node..
I never thought that would happen to me to be honest, read the story here:

I ended up going through a Norwegian #Tor exit and the site was presented like a Swedish one, but everything was misspelled.
