I remember being a part of Rent-a-Crowd. It was never very much of a crowd. We organised a protest against the introduction of the #GST and maybe a couple of thousand people turned up. A week later there was a protest about the South #Sydney rugby club being relegated from the league, and the city came to a standstill. 20 years later, there's talk about increasing the rate of…

After nearly twenty years, so much of the #Sydney CBD looks the way I remember it, and I suppose more or less the way it's been since before the war, that it breaks my heart not be able to be there whenever I feel like it. Suburbia is ephemeral. Sandstone, slate, and marble are for the ages, pending continual restoration works. Ah, scaffolding, plywood plastered with union lo…

Then suddenly the entrepreneurs were all in countries without extradition treaties with #AU, and their holes in the ground surrounded by scaffolding became permanent fixtures. Last I saw the holes were all replaced by App…

@tregeagle That #NME interview is a classic. I read it in print after the standard fortnight delay getting it via air-freight in the #Sydney record shops (high-latency connections in those days). https://thequietus.com/articles/09277-mark-e-smith-nick-cave-shane-macgowan-nme-interview

I was the same with the #Pogues at the Hordern Pavillion in #Sydney 2012. The Broad Majestic Shannon always gets me for some reason. And I weep buckets every time I watch the 30th anniversary DVD recorded about a month later in some obscure continental town called Paris. But does Shane ever stand me a round in Filthy McNasty's? Granted I'm some way from Islington, but for a f…
