Hey, !selfhost enthusiasts in the !fediverse , anybody a #yourls fan want to help test some code I wrote? It's for granular, conditional expiring links. Not production ready, but pretty close, and I could use some #help.

Contributing to !foss makes me happy. I just finished a bug-squashing fest for a totally !googlefree QR Code generator that I wrote for the YOURLS URL shortener that I !selfhost . Currently bug free and fully functional :) https://0eq2.com/BQ

@louis I think @bobjonkman means that he has his !ownCloud / #NexCloud in his own hardware, under his own roof. !selfhost

Agreed, up to the point of "there is no need for your own cloud". My !ownCloud / !Nextcloud *is* my own !selfhost.ed computer, and it provides the means for me to access my data on different devices which may not be connected to each other, or at all.

Adding this to the !Freedombone, !SelfHost, !Autonomous, !Decentralife groups. And heck, the !Fr33dom group too.

Yes, @TeksavvyBuzz is a great ISP. They're a third-party provider, in that they get wholesale bandwidth from the incumbent cable provider (Rogers Cable in my neighbourhood), and somehow Rogers prevents Teksavvy from issuing a static IP (this wasn't a problem when I used Teksavvy DSL). Lack of a static IP stops me from !selfhosting DNS. Rogers also blocks outbound port 25 for SMTP,…

I don't !selfhost #DNS (yet); I'm using @Register4Less, my registrar for the server and @TeksavvyBuzz, my ISP for resolver.

Okay, so #Matrix: positives are that the #Riot client has a beauteous interface; http://status.hackerposse.com/url/13727's bridge to #Freenode offers ever-growing scrollback in #IRC rooms; possible to !selfhost a matrix server. Minuses: I haven't yet found a http://status.hackerposse.com/url/13728 bridge to #XMPP (which would greatly enhance its value to me); no concept of indi…

Every time a #GMail user is unable to receive my #email because #Google inexplicably ate it, and someone suggests I should give up on !selfhost'ing and just let Google manage *my* mail too, I can only think "are you insane!? Then *I* wouldn't be able to receive e-mail either! Why would I want that!?".
