“Give Up Google”
Yes, this is a good trend, but if it stops with Google, it is an absolute failure at protecting privacy. Instead of “De-Google” it needs to be DecentraLife (including giving up #Google, #Facebook, #Amazon, #Microsoft, and other large corporations that spy on users) ... avoiding the concentration of users and resources that enables these companies to abuse users in the first place. -

@capngloval I'm a bit skeptical still. #Microsoft has historically done much to harm #FOSS, and #GNU + #Linux in particular. For example, requiring a distribution to sign its releases with MSFT signed key in order for (most) people to replace the OS on hardware they own.
I'm in favor of signing and hashes, but user / owner should decide whose keys to trust, not Microsoft. -

A friend is using #Windows 10. It suddenly starts crashing within 15 minutes of booting. Frustration grows. I slide in, install #Ubuntu (dual boot) - clicket-i-click - the machine works fine. All desired software works perfectly.
Thank you #Microsoft for giving me this opportunity to introduce another person to (more or less) libre operating systems! -

Heh, last time I checked you _can't_ delete your #Skype account. #Microsoft's recommended method is to edit your profile to be unrecognizable and then send a message to them asking them to essentially change the password so you can't access it anymore. But your username will still be in the system. -
