Going through a big list of security fails, one by one. When I've resolved these I'll try a test build just to make sure nothing gets broken. #Freedombone

Adding some hardening tests to #Freedombone. Not all of these apply, but some might be useful. https://github.com/hardenedlinux/STIG-4-Debian

@hobbsc @bob @deavmi I want to send a few BBBs to #sonOne. I should preinstall #FreedomBone on one before shipping. Does it also work on the BeagleBone Green?

You can do the same kind of thing with #Freedombone but this is another approach to running your own email system. https://www.own-mailbox.com/alpha-manual.pdf

Added some new #Freedombone images for Cubietruck and also the insecure version of the mesh client (insecure because it includes proprietary wifi drivers). So if you were up against it and didn't have Atheros wifi dongles you could probably still use any available laptops to create a local mesh network.

If anyone wants to host disk images for #Freedombone I'm making a bunch of them now.

The thing about RiseUp is that any system containing the email accounts of a significant number of activists is bound to become a target. This is why if you want better security it's a good idea to run your own stuff, or get someone you trust to do that. #Freedombone now includes Mailpile, which makes encrypted email quite easy although has the down side that it doesn't…

Added ssh key verification to #Freedombone. It's not foolproof though because a machine-in-the-middle could still search and replace the public key hash, fooling the user into believing that they had the correct key.

Implementing a password manager for the #Freedombone system. Very simple gpg stuff, similar to pass. Based on the backup keys.

Getting the logging under control. With the default installation I'd prefer there to be no logging of IP addresses. That way even in the event of a security compromise there isn't much social information which could be gleaned from the logs. For debugging purposes you can turn logging on from the control panel, although it turns itself off again after a while. This is a …

Expunged the proprietary service links from the Ghost blog install on #Freedombone. Really I don't want to be promoting closed silos.

@xj9 @pikurasa it's probably not far away. For VoIP there are various options such as Tox, Mumble and Ring. For videoconferencing there's Jitsi Meet. On the #Freedombone mesh VoIP via qTox works very well.

Separating out the documentation for apps into their own org files. Previously it was all one big document. #Freedombone

So Jitsi Meet installs but I'm not entirely convinced that it works. This might be due to the state of WebRTC API implementation within various browsers. I'll leave it in #Freedombone because it seems close to working and maybe future package updates will fix whatever the current limitations are.
