@digitante As one who used to make a living via !copyright work, until such time as we achieve !copyright abolition, I require a workaround
-
@digitante but ND and NC are necessary if people who are making a living in the !copyright world to switch to !cc
-
@douglasawh You may be right :)
-
I'm all for a good conspiracy, but I don't think that's the actual US strategy.
-
@douglasawh Actually, it is a really great US strateg; it puts !Canada at a !copyright disadvantage. We lack your procedure for challenge.
-
which makes it even more asinine that it's worse than our system. Maybe Obama forgot about the Library of Congress...
-
@douglasawh I realize most artists don't make a living solely from their art, but there are some that do. They are on the !copyright poster
-
I think that depends on what you mean by "solely from their art". Both of my parents are full-time musicians and they teach. My father is also a composer, but copyright isn't really part of his strategy.
-
@zotz Yes, he's right. Please go look at the !copyright page on anything @doctorow has published.
-
@zotz Wrong. There are creatives who do make a living solely from their art - they do so by !copyright. Ask J.K.Rowling. Ask Bono.
-
@dougsportazine There is documented evidence that our new !copyright law #DRM provisions were dictated by your gov't (thank you !wikileaks )
-
@arnebab We tried (and failed) to stop !copyright law that protects #DRM even when used to to block !cc or !publicDomain !Canada
-
@1111aether !C11 is still not in force http://www.ur1.ca/a1i1s
-
@douglasawh copyright infringing p2p like BitTorrent is illegal #GoesBothWays …but making personal music copies is legal http://ur1.ca/a1i05
-
@laurelrusswurm what's illegal?
-
@dpic Here unjust !copyright law is the default with © "all rights reserved" subjugation enacted by my government regardless of my wishes.
-
@greg @dpic @robmyers @mlinksva @lxoliva !CC is a good workaround, but nothing less than !copyright abolition will produce perfect freedom.
-
Making a copy (of music) for personal use is legal in Canada. Sharing copies with others is not. http://identi.ca/url/73336780 !copyright
-
@xsmurf True. I usually mean "Copyright-All-Rights-Reserved" when I write just !copyright. My bad. #140charsistooshortforcomplexideas !free
-
It's not the consumers' behaviour that's inconsistent with CC, but the majority of creators' insistence on !copyright. !free
