No changes from yesterday's post. I don't have the time to follow-up with everyone individually, sadly. Please feel free to translate this as many of the regions left are predominantly not English-speaking. It's that time again. We are looking for regional judges for the Creative Commons Community Music Awards. Please let me know if you would be interested in taking a region. …

#Daddy_A lived in #AZ for a year or two. When I told him how hot it is today, he immediately told me how glad he is to have left #SoCal and #Arizona to move to #NE ( #Nebraska gets both hot and humid, but not as hot as AZ or as humid as #Mississippi ).
-
I think someone missed. Temperatures substantially above 100°F are supposed to land in #AZ, not #SoCal.

My #SoCal hometown is having another day that exceeds 100F / 38C outside. Inside temperature is 96F / 36C. Slightly hotter than some parts of Sacramento #CA, but lower than Phoenix #AZ. Some clouds rolling in, so maybe we’ll have some overcast ... or maybe even a little rain. We have not yet had the traditional August rainstorm. (Cools things off that day, but then the ne…

I’m trying to think how long it has been since I’ve seen #Daddy_A in person. Once, for about four hours, three years ago. Before that, maybe another 2-3 years (that time was about an hour), and before that maybe a year?
So the last time I saw them regularly was before they moved away (first to #AZ, then to #NE).

It is 90°F inside, 98°F outside. Except for Arizonans, that is "OMG I'm melting" territory.
.
It is 107°F in the Phoenix #AZ area, so this is nothing to them.

According to Accuweather, it is 100F here in my part of #SoCal, with a "RealFeel" of 109F. Also 100F (RealFeel 105F) in Mesa, #AZ. That's quite an accomplishment, to be as hot as the Phoenix area.
Arden-Arcade, in the #Sac area, is 86F (RealFeel 93F), but the Sacramento Valley and parts of the San Joachin Valley have heat advisories, so it could get much hotter in other parts of the area.
-
Today was a HHOOTT day. 98F / 37C, but the AccuWeather RealFeel was 106F / 41C. Currently 89F / 32C in my bedroom, 93F / 34C outside.
This is nothing for #NV and #AZ residents, but it is uncomfortably hot for most of #SoCal

I saw an article that says that a non-native invasive grass is behind the rapid spread and intense heat of the #AZ fire that is near Tempe. The article said that Saguaro cacti don't normally burn, but this time, they are burning because the heat is so intense.

Phoenix #AZ area: high pollution advisory; excessive heat warning (afternoon peak 106°F /41°C to 111°F / 44°C) ... @rye that's why you're so thirsty.
-
Wondering if @rye melted in the #AZ heat.
You know those pictures of glowing lava running down the mountains in Hawaii? In #Arizona, that’s just the roads melting in the heat. They don’t even take pictures anymore.
-
Meanwhile, I'm glad I don't live in the Phoenix metro area. In Mesa, #AZ, where #Daddy_A used to live, it is currently 102F
If you don't know the Fahrenheit scale, think decimals. 0F / -18C is dangerously cold ... can kill if you are not prepared. 100F / 38C is dangerously hot ... can kill if you are not prepared. In between is a range of cold through hot, that most people survive fine. Human scale.

Looking on the US "confirmed by population" map on the JHU site. Along with the NYC area, the Navajo / Hopi reservation area in #AZ and #NM seems to have some of the highest numbers of cases (per capita) in the nation. Also the New Orleans area of #LA and an area that looks like it overlaps southern #GA and #AL.
-
Until someone from #AZ mentions the time there, I sometimes forget they have no DST.
