Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Wednesday, 14-Aug-2019 22:37:28 EDT Joshua Judson Rosen I think I learned something about #Facebook today: people use it because it has #groups like !GNUsocial! Well, sort-of? @palmella tells me that, *unlike* GNU social groups, Facebook heavily moderates (modulates?) the delivery of group-posts to users' home streams in ways that don't necessarily have obvious explanations.... -

Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Wednesday, 26-Jun-2019 19:51:38 EDT Joshua Judson Rosen Was having a conversation about !gnusocial today, and someone asked: is there any sort of #HOWTO for people more familiar with #NNTP than with
Twitter/Facebook/etc.? -

Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Friday, 03-Feb-2017 16:17:00 EST Joshua Judson Rosen #GNUsocial has supported both #ActivityStreams JSON and #AtomPub w/ AS XML extensions in the client API for years now; for example: https://loadaverage.org/api/statuses/home_timeline/andstatus.as https://loadaverage.org/api/statuses/home_timeline/andstatus.atom -
Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Sunday, 29-Jan-2017 23:12:24 EST Joshua Judson Rosen @andstatus, #GNUsocial *doesn't* send fav/del/etc. as ordinary messages: they are distinct "verbs" in the Atom & ActivityStreams data. -
Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Jan-2017 15:22:32 EST Joshua Judson Rosen @doe, you do seem to be posting *about* "everything" *except* GNU social. I'm just asking you to find or create a group that's actually appropriate to your topics instead of hijacking random groups. People who like to use !gnusocial to talk about !gnusocial may be archetypal nerds, but that doesn't imply that we care a whit about anime or anything else—but there are groups for people who do care about those things. -
Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Jan-2017 10:41:19 EST Joshua Judson Rosen @d0e WTF is with you posting everything you write to the !gnusocial group regardless of topicality? -
Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Saturday, 22-Oct-2016 09:57:02 EDT Joshua Judson Rosen @olobolgerbaggins@quitter.se, does #Mattermost actually fill a different need than, say #gnusocial + #email? -

Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Sunday, 15-May-2016 12:57:04 EDT Joshua Judson Rosen @bob, here's a #T-shirt design I came up with for !gnusocial hackers, admins, etc.: http://www.zazzle.com/gnu_social_engineer_t_shirt-235242690403627527 -
Bob Mottram (bob)'s status on Friday, 13-May-2016 18:53:56 EDT Bob Mottram Made !gnusocial and #Hubzilla T-shirts, so during the summer I can shamelessly advertise some of the projects on #Freedombone. The Hubzilla one is all blue with the white logo and name. Gnusocial is black with the big red logo. -
Bob Mottram (bob)'s status on Saturday, 30-Apr-2016 09:38:33 EDT Bob Mottram Wondering whether to make some !gnusocial merchandise. FOSS projects are rarely advertised, and "wearing the T-shirt" or badge can sometimes be a talking point which makes people aware that these things exist. -
Echosa (echosa)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Mar-2016 09:23:34 EST Echosa At some point when I wasn't looking, "queet" became "quip". Thank you to whoever is responsible for that. <3 !gnusocial -
MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Jan-2016 16:33:32 EST MMN-o ✅⃠ @resumer @knuthollund Yes, whether the post is removed is entirely up to the receiving side. Think of !gnusocial nodes as feed readers. It's up to the reader to decide whether to cache or not. It's a public network, and everyone using it should be aware that it is.
(our strength is not _data privacy_, but decentralisation and interoperability) -
Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Thursday, 11-Feb-2016 22:01:15 EST Joshua Judson Rosen Interestingly..., looking at the !gnusocial commit logs and online conversation, it looks like @mmn actually did make notice-deletes propagate through the network quasi-recently: http://status.hackerposse.com/conversation/87921#notice-87928 (commit from Sat Oct 10 11:08:17 2015 +0200: "I think I have made the delete verb generate proper AS"). -
Joshua Judson Rosen (rozzin)'s status on Thursday, 11-Feb-2016 15:51:34 EST Joshua Judson Rosen @mcscx, !gnusocial seems to have an unusually high ratio of considered, thoughtful discourse from people who actually think about what they're about to say.
