For those who are unaware, the #RIAA filed a #DMCA takedown request against #YouTube-DL's #GitHub repo. The claim is that ytdl is primarily used for circumventing copyright enforcement mechanisms. -

One of the most annoying things for me is that after the #iPad upgraded to #iOS 14.1, there’s a constantly-on, unblockable notification to set up #Apple_Pay. Sorry, #Apple. You got your X hundred dollars. You are not getting any more.

Probably the biggest beneficiary of longer copyright terms is Disney Corp. But are their inflated profits worth the loss to society as a whole?
Think about this: “Stairway to Heaven” was released in 1971. In 2020, the last appeal in a copyright lawsuit (alleging plagiarism) was decided. Do we really want people fighting over who has the right to profit from 50 year old works? -

I've heard a rumor that there's some work to get the take-down set aside and the GitHub repo re-enabled.
But regardless of how this goes, it is long past time to start fighting to overturn DMCA and long copyright terms in general. -
