@mmn @andstatus, I generally agree with that. When iPhones were still rare and one friend's messages had included that footer for 6 months, I started wondering how he could possibly _still_ think he needed to brag about to novelty of having an iPhone or being able to send mail from it. I think I sent him a reply at some point: "OK. Glad that makes you happy. Why do you keep telling me about it!?"
I think the metadata about from where the post has been sent should be handled less intrusively. Compare it with "Sent from my iPhone" or "Sent from my Samsung Galaxy whatever" that are default - I _always_ reply to people mailing those things with "Stop sending me advertisement" or similar. :)
Not yet. I'm not sure how to decide where to go properly. There are no good alternatives. :D I think this is a good start though: http://jxself.org/goodbye-gitorious.shtml
@boneidol, I admin a network with the required number of active addresses, and was able to explain why I needed them to be routable. But I'm not running my own BGP.
@mmn & @mattl, please do a "git repack -a -d -f --window=250 --depth=250 --window-memory=100m" or similar before pushing the #git repo to its new home. It'll significantly cut the time/bandwidth required for new clones.
@jd, really glad I got to attend, this year—though it was really weird seeing all of the engines driven by, uh... artificial respiration? And more disappointing that the ones that couldn't be run that way, like your #flame-licker #engine, weren't allowed to run at all :\
