sorry - can't find it - someone once gave me the javascript for a bookmarklet that worked with loadaverage. It works quite well. If someone can find it, I think that it would be a good idea to stick that in the documentation. @rozzin @mattl @erkan ?
-
I wonder if it's the "Share widget (for browser)" (1) ? btw @chimo your example there gives only: "Page not found". (1) http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/GNU_social_clients#clients
-
@hosh, the bookmarklet _is_ documented in GNU social, in /doc/bookmarklet. Not sure why that's missing on quitter.no and quitter.se.
-
@hosh, oh I see: quitter.no and quitter.is don't have the Bookmark plugin enabled. You could ask @knuthollund@quitter.no to enable that plugin.
-
@rozzin ohh - that is a plugin? Hmm need to check it out /cc @hosh @knuthollund@quitter.no
-
@knuthollund @rozzin it's not hugely important to me just now, either way, but I'm sure a lot of people would benefit from it's being there. Haven't checked if any of the popular browser add-on sharing services work with gnusocial, but someone might like to suggest it to them. (I sometimes would discover new social networks just from their mentioning them)

@hosh Tried bookmark plugin on my test site. Don't see the benefit. Only posts bookmarks which is then available for all. Also it requires not to use the qvitter plugin. /cc @rozzin
-
@knuthollund, Bookmark + Qvitter work just fine together AFAICT.
-
@rozzin hmm - so how do you mark it as a "bookmark" with the qvitter interface? (posting a new bookmark)
-
@knuthollund @vegos I realized that what @rozzin is speaking of is something quite different from what @jrm had in mind (I think). One of the functionalities of http://status.hackerposse.com/url/671 and then gnusocial is indeed a separate type of posting for bookmarks. When http://status.hackerposse.com/url/6689 came apart at the seams Evan even started a dedicated bookmarks service …

I spoke of @chimo 's widget, but the old status.net bookmarklet is broken too. Both open your GNUsocial instance to post marked text and it's URL. There was some change in the last major GNUsocial update which killed them for me.
-
@hosh, what I'm saying is that the doc page that gives you the JS bookmarklet is now implemented as part of the Bookmark plugin. If you don't have the Bookmark plugin enabled, "/doc/bookmarklet" doesn't exist.
-
The doc you're looking for will be at https://quitter.no/doc/bookmarklet after @knuthollund enables the Bookmark plugin on quitter.no.
-
@hosh, I think the JS bookmarklet always depended on the Bookmark plugin being enabled; so the change was just to not document it on sites where it wouldn't work.
-
Now I understand (I mean about the documentation, not about why it wouldn't work). Now the devil in me wants to ask, why can't we have a bookmarklet that does work? The bookmarklet, as I remember, provides a choice about whether to send to a "bookmark" or a "status". Anyway, as I said, it's not something I would currently be using much, as I usually use Pinboard.
-
Heyalloacuckooodadabimbam @pztrn, is that bookmark plugin installed in LA?
-
Hmm. @hosh, I don't remember the bookmarklet ever supporting anything except posting bookmarks. I wonder if you're confusing the bookmarklet vs. main interface of the freelish.us "bookmark site"?
-
@vegos: https://loadaverage.org/doc/bookmarklet
-
@rozzin I don't think I'm confusing things, but who knows... Anyway, It's a while since I used loadaverage, and a longer while since I used the bookmarklet. But I've gone back to test the one in your link and the bookmarklet works fine. I do seem to remember a similar one that allowed posting to an ordinary status though. (I never used the "bookmarks" feature of loadaverage because t…

The naming is a bit confusing. Me too, I never use the GS bookmark feature. But the bookmarklet makes a post/notice. @chimo 's widget allows both, post and bookmark. Possibly nothing broken but the cuckooodadatatarataaabockmarkplugin not installed @ LoadAverage ?????
-
This code does not work for me at the moment. I tested an hour ago.
-
I just read, it will be fixed.

@hosh @rozzin @knuthollund @vegos @vegos Is what I'm talking about, yup.
