Can't figure out where to file a #StatusNet / #GNU-Social #bug you've found? Post it to the !snbug !fedgroup. Maybe someone there will know what to do with it....
-
!snbug: an #experiment in #guerrilla #bug-tracking.
-
... because one of the worst #bugs to have is not having a #bug-tracker.
-
No, file it in the bug tracker. Bugs and other issues should be in ONE place
-
People should NOT have to look in two (or even more) places to find what has already been reported. And a SN group doesn't have the infrastructure a bug tracker has, with cross-references and all.
-
@rozzin but we HAVE one. I joined this group only to say (and repeat if necessary) that THIS is not a place to report bugs. It's totally counterproductive
-
@mk @rozzin Lots of people don't know how to use a bug tracker anyway. SN --> GS just adds to the confusion.
-
@mk @rozzin ... not that we want people to think the SN group is a real bug report. It should be a step toward reporting on the tracker.
-
@mk, I hereby deputize you. Please help marshal bugs from people who couldn't find the bug-tracker, into the bug-tracker. #pun ☺
-
@rozzin please help people find it by linking to it from the group's description, and explaining why
-
@mk, you are now a deputised bug-marshal! I think I'm inordinately pleased with that #pun... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshal_%28disambiguation%29 http://status.hackerposse.com/url/3959
-
@rozzin seems I can do nothing but tell YOU to fix the group's description so people can *actually* find the bug tracker
-
@rozzin I am nothing but a protester. This group - as is - is not helpful in any way.
-
It is/can be helpful: e.g. for #MIP reports (mentioned in passing), when I am bug #hunting I report bugs I see (to add later more details) before I spam the bugtracker with incomplete bug reports. Another advantage is: who of the SN users looks really regularly into the bug tracker ? When they see in their timeline bug reports (however detailed) they might remember that w…

@erkanyilmaz, if we can actually identify an official bug-tracker going forward w/ GNU Social, it might be nice to have new bug-reports from the BTS feed down into a group like !snbug. I think Debian did something like that on identi.ca, back in the day....
-
@rozzin that's actually a good idea - all it needs is a feed. But until GS imports the full issue tracker content into a new one (and I do mean full!) the place to report bugs is still http://status.net/open-source/issues !snbug
-
could/should also be done for the SN forum: http://oracle.skilledtests.com/conversation/185817#notice-289602 (of course minus sp.m)
-
Oh, now I remember: #Debian had *user* accounts on identi.ca, not groups, used to post `new bugs' streams etc.: http://status.hackerposse.com/url/3964
