looks like it is possible with log4j: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/688703/does-changing-log4js-log-properties-require-a-restart
log4j can be used with Tomcat. It's not a satisfactory answer (for me, yet...might fall back on it) -

you should really assume I know nothing about Tomcat if you decide to jump in on this. -

I guess this might depend in part if it is a watched resource. That I do not know. -

this is the one I ended up using, but it is against Wildfly 12, so again, might be part of the problem with HAL: https://www.techgalery.com/2019/09/add-mysql-driver-to-wildfly.html -

In #Tomcat, do you need to restart to configure log rotation using something like logging.properties? I am not sure why logrotate isn't acceptable, but apparently it is not. Different teams, perhaps. -

nope. I don't see how this is a 19.x vs 17.x issue, but maybe. I have the driver installed, but when I used the same document to create a datasource, the CLI says the datasource was created but it does not show up in HAL. -

the reality is I am planning to do 112 km each weekend day, minus spreading things out a bit over July 4th weekend. As long as we don't have a brutally hot July, and I stay otherwise healthy, I do not anticipate any problems.
I have a 125km ride planned for latest June, but otherwise June is pretty light (riding a bit each day).
10,000km for the year. Each day is planned. -

I did 1250km in May (vs ~1609 for July). I generally don't take days off, but 100km on Saturday and then on Sunday will not be particularly challenging in the abstract. The only real issue is this: right now I am planning to do about 32km a day during the the weekdays. Sustaining 32km/hour is certainly doable, but I wouldn't call it an easy ride. Basically, I am trying to avoi… -

Has anyone done the Trek 1000 mile July #cycling challenge?
How much did you ride in June beforehand?

that was my first assumption as well. I can diff the source, of course, but I suspect there will be lots of meaningless differences that I won't understand. It can't hurt to try though. -

in theory, HAL should be taking care of the location, as I uploaded it through a deployment. I suppose uninstalling the driver I installed via yum wouldn't hurt though. -

Before Trump goes full Hitler, anybody got any tips for moving to #Canada? My employer has an office in #Ottawa, so I am assuming anywhere in #Ontario would be fine, since I don't have to work out of an office. I believe we also have people in Quebec, but I don't speak French. Vancouver seems nice enough, but I don't know how employment would work there. The real issue will b…
