@manuel @takeshitakenji another way to deploy !gnusocial is using #Freedombone on low cost single board computers, like the Beaglebone Black.

@bob @thomask @zoowar @drymer @moshpirit This whole conversation (which is more than just this single thread) has been very enlightening and is a good conversation to have about !gnusocial. For those used to Twitter, these little caveats can be huge, or, at the very least, confusing. Privacy is a hot topic right now, as it should be. I did a little Google Sleuthing with my username,…

@drymer @zoowar @moshpirit @echosa @thomask I regard !gnusocial as being purely for public communications. If you want privacy use #Hubzilla

@maiyannah @manuel in that case no. I use a particular commit of !gnusocial, otherwise it fails to display within OrFox. I reported that problem a while ago, and it might be a bug in OrFox. Until there's a new OrFox version resolving the issue I'll stick with the current commit.

Please don't confuse !gnusocial with Federation. It is only on approach. @echosa @thomask

!gnusocial I believe I have this working now currently an open server but I will lock it down once it starts chugging (which will be quick with the hardware it sits on :p) Love the idea though!

@koz #Twidere supports !gnusocial now & @mariotaku seems to have recently included a chooser for some well-known instances w/ oauth support

This might be of interest to @maiyannah: https://git.gnu.io/gnu/gnu-social/merge_requests/114
Not sure how it works though. !gnusocial

Below the viewable setting should be a checkbox for "Make updates visible only to my followers" However, this is not real privacy.
-
!gnusocial Is there a way to make an account "private", as in only viewable by people who follow? I know there's a setting to make followers require approval.
