@mmn I'd be happier with full group federation, but I'll settle for fully-qualified group names. Group federation should exist because it's a mechanism for addressing multiple recipients, similar to the way a !GNUsocial instance is a way to host multiple participants.

@rugk Generally, !GNUsocial is a public network with public posts, so there's nothing you need to hide (and if you do have something to hide, create a pseudonym on a generic server via Tor Browser).
Integrity and authorship is checked with methods that do not require HTTPS.

Yup, no HTTPS on sn.jonkman.ca. This instance was set up well before LetsEncrypt was available, and !GNUsocial (and !StatusNet before it) don't take well to changing the URL scheme. So, either I keep the groups and it stays HTTP or I switch to HTTPS and lose the groups. I opt for the former.

It royally sucks that you can't use them aliases. I hope you'll keep posting about !films and not stop as a result of this minor inconvenience. Maybe the geeks on !gnusocial will look into this problem someday.
