Well, that was one hour of !GNUsocial browsing in the morning to wake up. Now the sun is acting up and causing a bunch of light radiating through the curtains. Better get up and do something less productive.

good morning! !fediverse !gnusocial

@PeterCxy We've had this discussion on !GNUsocial too - even whether the !fediverse tag should have a Spanish equivalent or not. Depending on how much a profile posts, there could of course be practical issues with varying languages. It's not like you start talking Japanese in a (real, physical) room full of Swedes, right? But you rather reserve that persona for anoth…

@shnoulle I've heard about this !GNUsocial, what is it? Doesn't sound !vegan - are you sure it's great anyway?

@gargron I think the only reason !GNUsocial doesn't generate <p> is because I'd have to write a parsing routine instead of using PHP's nl2br or whatever does the work today. ;)
-
@vinzv The recent push to !GNUsocial source fixing the 'acct:' normalization apparently broke the "+Remote" button in the classic interface (and /main/ostatussub without a ?profile_uri= argument). So I pushed some fixes for that now to nightly and master.

@HerraBRE !GNUsocial calls it "mute" for the per-profile blocking, which makes the muted profile disappear from your feeds (while logged in of course). Or at least should, I think it's still buggy because it's not been such a big problem for me at least thanks to active moderators.
Then we have "silence" which is a moderator-level ban from the site in general. New posts are not received.

@maloki In the current state of code, !GNUsocial at least wouldn't accept the update (no duplicates) because the post would still, if I read the Atom spec correctly, have the same URI.
-
@maloki No it wouldn't cause a lot of Federation issues necessarily. It could perhaps cause duplicates, but since #Atom has the "atom:updated" element then - just as with any feed reader - !OStatus implementations can see that it is updated. However, it should only be possible to update atom:content and not mentions. Categories etc. is debatable. Why we haven't implem…

@pettter @indecisivetwat @bcavello Yeah, !gnusocial is awesome like that.

One doubt about !gnusocial and #Mastodon federation, I don't know if I am correct: the only way a mention in the form of username @ domain can reach the mentioned user is if this message (dent or toot) reaches the domain because someone in the domain is following the user who published it, am I right?

@HerraBRE #Mastodon works with !GNUsocial as it is pretty well. There were some issues that @gargron raised with me, some of which I believe I fixed and some that I couldn't really figure out (some profile avatar update thing for example?) Regarding RFC7033 (#WebFinger) it - since standardisation - only _requires_ a JRD (application/jrd+json). application/xrd+xml is j…

Noseying around in the !gnusocial code, probably something like Hubzilla's private messages and privacy groups could be possible with some extra fields. Admittedly, it would be re-inventing the wheel of a sort.

Hello !gnusocial !
-
I imported your feed to my !GNUsocial instance and am trying to reply so I can see whether the notice appears on your site.
-
I'm kind of irritated that a bot is following my groups, I understand why they follow instances... does anyone have an opinion on that? !gnusocial
