@Tchambers How about #Wordpress, which essentially is a part of the !fediverse already as we can subscribe to all of their #Atom feeds (and I believe PubSubHubbub is enabled for anything .wordpress.com).
-
@crecca Yes they can. Subscriptions are on a per-instance basis. So if two people from one !OStatus instance subscribe to you, and you block one of them, that instance will still receive the updates and thus the one you blocked will still get the same info as the one you haven't blocked.
+ you can always follow #Atom feeds from a feedreader.
-
@maloki No it wouldn't cause a lot of Federation issues necessarily. It could perhaps cause duplicates, but since #Atom has the "atom:updated" element then - just as with any feed reader - !OStatus implementations can see that it is updated. However, it should only be possible to update atom:content and not mentions. Categories etc. is debatable. Why we haven't implem…

@aral #Atom has updates already. And "checkins" are just variations of #ActivityStreams verbs etc.

!GNUsocial can import an #Atom or #RSS feed with #PubSubHubub into a timeline. Select "Settings, Mirroring, Atom or RSS feed" (I'm still on the StatusNet code, so your menu selections may be slightly different)
-
For #RSS / #Atom reading I use the #Brief extension for !firefox / !icecat http://brief.mozdev.org/
-
@oplch You can archive the #Atom feed. It has all the data in the feed to be programmatically browsable. I wrote an atom-ripper sometime. Importing it is probably not well-supported in !GNUsocial yet but keep the feed as a backup.

@modemjunkie Are the #NoAgenda shows available as an #Atom or #RSS feed so I can add them to my podcatcher?
-
@pettter @lochland@quitter.se no #RSS or #Atom on the blog? :) It'd give me a good reason to fix the hub-less FeedPoller plugin for !gnusocial so you can follow generic feeds without their own PuSH backends.

This is how !gs !gnusocial now works An #OStatus server produces an #Atom feed of status-update messages, which are pushed to subscribers using #PubSubHubbub. Replies to status updates are sent using the #Salmon protocol…

Okay, it is clear that !gnusocial #atom feed has some issues at least on !quitterno and #gnusocialno . #ifttt fails to fetch notices when I add my #atom feed. But it works fine with #RSS . I'm trying to pump my updates to #Twitter from here

something I just learned. !GNUSocial conversations have #atom feeds :-) You can follow a specific conversation remotely. Example : http://is.gd/hZuyB9

I'll postpone my French greetings to Thierry Bressure until his GS is fixed. Seems when the #atom feed is bad/empty can't subscribe to :-( checked RSS, foaf, Activitystream works though. Will email him. @tbressure@perso.bressure.net/gnu-social http://www.skilledtests.com/wiki/Pastebin#2013-12-25
