...but this may be a !gnusocial #API bug rather than !qvitter - so that has to be checked first. I've got 30 minutes now to do so, I'll have a look. -

@imn00b However, the #GNUsocial network isn't really designed to be secret and hidden. It's mainly meant to be a broad, distributed means of communications where noone can take your data away.
But of course I hope administrators of #GNUsocial nodes are open and welcoming to users from #TOR IP spaces etc. -

I'm wondering if a globally accessible "silence list" would be good for !gnusocial - it would: 1. Let nodes interchange silence lists ("I trust the judgement of site X to only silence those who'd be silenced here as well") 2. Make it more obvious for remote users (that aren't admins) who have trouble reaching other nodes if they are blocked of if there's just a bug. A… -

Your home/"all" timeline also has that information (faves and repeats are activities which should show up there).
The "Notifications" is a specific qvitter-hack to store them separately + know if you've seen them. Not available without #qvitter anyway.
(though some sort of notification system like that would be nice to have in core !gnusocial) -

You can delete your account. Also, !gnusocial has, for example, always had CC:by as default license for anything published.
If you sign up on a publically available website and don't get any terms presented - then you have no rights to demand anything as a user of that website. -

I would like to write a plugin for !gnusocial that - when you link a YouTube video (or similar) it launches 'youtube-dl', gets the video and then host it locally.
Fortunateley, I found a 3TB harddrive that I that already had been put to good use. -

I really like Semantic Versioning, eg. Major.minor.patch http://semver.org/ It's especially useful for software like !GNUsocial where other developers code to the API -

@pelayo Hmm, no not immediately at least. Animated avatars would require a fix in source code for !GNUsocial. For generic uploads it is already there. (avatars get cropped and resized, can't do that without killing cpu for large GIFs) -

By the way, if you’re thinking about running !sn / !gnusocial on #lighttpd, the included
lighttpd.conf.examplefile makes it very easy to get things running. #nginx, #cherokee, #hiawatha users should contribute similar files, to make it even easier to !selfhost.
