I can see that message on the hosting instance for the !GNUsocial group: https://status.vinilox.eu/conversation/3194205#notice-3194494

Developing is too fun. Especially when I generally just complete stuff I've half-completed previously and I just have to put the final touches on them. Welcome #HTML5 video support to !gnusocial (and !qvitter as soon as the patches come through).

It did reach the !GNUsocial group because casing is irrelevant for tags :]

@mk Group administration and membership in !GNUsocial is not federated. If an instance hosting a group goes down all the membership info is lost (with description and logo and aliases). While a second, similar group appears counterproductive, it should make the !Fediverse more robust. #FeatureEnhancementRequest

@andstatus Yes. Each Quitter.{no,es,se} is a site, node or instance.
The word "system" could work for #GNUsocial in its entirety (but then I'd prefer "network"). .)

@roland Your webserver should reasonably be allowed to read the files in a web application's directory. You should check your webserver config (as in which user it runs as, which user owns the 'file' directory etc.). It's not a #GNUsocial bug anyway (but I think you can set the file upload default umask/permissions, in case webserver config is out of the question or too hard)

@pskosinski@quitter.no Regarding your #Unicode problems in !gnusocial at http://status.hackerposse.com/url/6778 We have actually, in the current nightly branch, made the necessary changes to support UTF-8 properly. The problem is #MySQL encoding support ("utf8" != UTF-8) and limited indexing lengths in #InnoDB (making 191 characters the most when using 4 byte unicode c…

Haha, the #QnA plugin really sucks in !gnusocial :D

@hannes2peer Blir ett bra tillfälle att testa så min auto-identifiera-uppgradering-till-https i #GNUsocial fungerar annars! :D

Latest !gnusocial nightly is only for the daring! But _please_ (first backup and then) try it out - the 'php scripts/upgrade.php' is the interesting and important part. It should do something like this: Upgrading core schema... Found old file table, upgrading it to contain 'urlhash' field... DONE. Updating urlhash fields in file table... DONE. Resuming core schema upg…

@aroque The main purpose of !gnusocial is meant to be a public, social media. There may be API calls that have been looked over when restricting private site behaviour.
Private sites should _not_ work with !ostatus
So the point is if you can get private data from a private site, it should be considered a bug. And since we haven't had the resources for an audit we can't guarantee anything .)

@identlud Wrote to you on XMPP. It's !gnusocial that has a new dependency in nightly, php5-intl - or at least I think I'll keep it like that. It's hard to develop anything with proper internationalization support nowadays.

@moshpirit Ask @kromonos who's running the #GNUsocial and #qvitter commit feed bots .)

Beep boop, touching database structures is always scary. I think I will have to (in order to make it "the right way") identify old !gnusocial database definition, upgrade it without unique indexing at first and then proceed with the proper ALTER TABLE statement afterwards.
^- note to self regarding File table 'urlhash' implementation, so we can perhaps get some utf8mb4 encoding and thus #emojis !
