@mcscx Yeah I got it on IRC earlier. gnome-terminal wouldn't make it clickable. Feature or bug? ;)
Nevertheless, unicode spoofing issues is old news. Everyone know about the crap it endues. I think I've had a rant before about #unicode being a tool of cultural appropration for the west.

@gargron Either way, I don't think there would be a problem for !GNUsocial with remote #Unicode (non-ASCII) characters. Nicknames are normalised as-is (for example removal of underscores which was another discussion). I don't remember if transliteration of nicknames is done, but we do that for #håshtägs (which has also sparked controversy due to incompatibility with…

Actually, I'd love the ":lipstick:" commit-comment more if it actually was #unicode char U+1F484 rather than just markup rendered by github.

The problem is #MySQL encoding support ("utf8" != UTF-8) and limited indexing lengths in #InnoDB (making 191 characters the most when using 4 byte unicode c…

@mmn, #MySQL is annoying in *lots* of ways. For an open-source project of its age + mindshare, it's a pile of shit. I'd use the unicode emoji char for that, but I'm using MySQL and its "utf8" implementation is unable to store most #unicode characters.

!TIL that #DDG really groks #unicode: compare https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%E2%98%84 vs. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%E2%98%84

@laurelrusswurm, I wonder if being in the #TeX repertoire is sufficient for those to have made their way into #Unicode. #☃
