@mmn do you think it could be possible to implement the quitim interface to the rest of !gnusocial as another alternative interface (just like qvitter)? That would be good to see the photos of every user instead of being checking every single post. And it would be an amazing way to get a great publicity for GNU social: like Twitter _and Instagram_ but free, decentralised and federated.

@mama21mama I don't really understand this. Are you having problems with !gnusocial and #lighttpd? I run it just fine with #lighttpd, is the bundled sample config not good enough for setting things up?

Para los creadores de !GNUsocial no anda bien el engendro de código en el servidor lighttpd.
Antes andaba de maravilla en lighttpd el viejo código statusnet.
Ahora me pregunto, por que modificar para que valla mal.
Quien seria tan estúpido de romper compatibilidad.

@moshpirit So, if my instance receive a message that is an answer, I think that a daemon could -- I don't know well how the protocols used by !gnusocial works -- ask the remote server where the discussion is known "which are the contacts you have in this conversation" and start 1. to follow them and 2. fetch the missed notices.

I have patched and cleaned up #Scrolly made by @tuttle and created a merge request: https://git.gnu.io/buttle/scroller/merge_requests/1 There was some structural cleanups required as e.g. external "libraries" are always placed in "extlib" and "scripts" is always used for command-line scripts. cc !gnusocial

@knuthollund That should be smooth sailing (unless, like me, you've got homegrown scripts which do some maintenance work and suddenly PID files go missing because of systemd-ifcation). @lnxw48 Wait. You run PHP 5.3 on #fresh.federati.net? (checked with curl -I) ... gee, then no wonder you have problems with !gnusocial - we bumped the minimum to PHP 5.4 some time ago, as (1) 5.3 is end of life and (2) proper internationalization/transliteration.

I think I might be able to get used to the XMPP interface for !gnusocial. But I have to make it so it will only send messages to a specific resource (like my bitlbee client). No need to spam my phone!

Is there anyone out there running !gnusocial on #PHP5.4? (which has its security support #EndOfLife in 3 months). I wish to bump the minimum required PHP version to 5.5 for try-catch-finally support.

@if You can still use !sn to communicate with !gnusocial nodes, but there are lots of shortcomings in that ever-aging codebase. If you think you have to wrestle with GNU social, then I'd say StatusNet will require wrestling outside. In the mud. When it's raining. And a thunderstorm is heading your way.
