One #wage-theft trick I've heard about in past years:
Schedule someone for 16 hour days the entire pay period. When payday comes, give them two paychecks, so you don't have to pay overtime. The trick is, have two separate business entities and use the second entity to avoid OT in the first one.

It is in the 90s, but still cooler than most recent years.
-
@xrevan86 I was referring to today's temperature being lower than recent years. I'm pretty sure @musicman was not talking about temperature, but 1990s temperatures were likely lower than 2015-2020.
-
specifically, he was referring to Fahrenheit.
I, on the other hand, was referring to the 1890s. ragtime is dope. (actually, I was referring to the 1990s, but I always think it's funny that people don't specify)

@musicman @lnxw48a1 And then this happens: https://bugs.debian.org/915209 :-).

Goodbye, @moonman@shitposter.club. Hello, @moon@shitposter.club.

Basically, there's some association of "Moonman" with racists. I'm not aware of it, but as he says above, multiple people have informed him of it.
Does that apply to the Man in the Moon character from the "Big Mac Tonight" commercials? Or is it just the name "moonman"? The world may never know.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that.

There's an occasional quip to that effect: One could say "I have smelly feet" in English and it sounds crude, but say it in French, and suddenly it is classy and attractive.
I can't say that I've had enough exposure to French to agree or disagree.

just marked my first customer issue resolved on my new team. It's always frustrating when a customer doesn't get back to you, but it's been over a week and I've checked in, so I am calling it done.
In any case, I told him the answer in my first response, he just didn't like it. I mean, #log4j may well be a better longterm solution for them, but it doesn't do exactly what they asked like my first response.

Kenny called to tell me that $EMPLOYER is lending some employees to other agencies. Some of the people he talks to have been asked to volunteer for such assignments. Apparently they are not lending out #TechTeam members.

even Fox is like, nah bro: "Juneteenth -- on June 19 -- is actually a well-known date on the calendar commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday marks the date in 1865 that President Lincoln’s order to free American slaves reached Galveston, Texas."
I'm not going to link because it's Fox...use the Google if you want to see it.

@waifu@nulled.red Well, I wouldn't really expect someone from the US to prioritise issues in Hungary over local or international (one can argue it is international by being systemic though). But intentionally inventing offensive connotations to words to then fight them is so Don Quixote I can't find any good reason for this no matter how hard I try. I stumbled upon this video:…

> so you better be supporting Black Lives Matter @waifu I don't know enough about everything that happens under that name, and it's not really up to anyone specifically I guess. So I wouldn't expect you to sign up for it all, and I hope you don't expect that from me (the notice's a bit ambiguous). But I think we can all agree on that police brutality is a thing, black people's…

Just that my personal connection to it, at…

"Remember that slavery wasn't just forcing Black people to work for free, the same way we forced horses and mules and oxen to do the hardest part of our labor. It also meant that lower-skill / lower-income Whites faced unbeatable competition"
I'm not really sure why this matters at all, but...yes, horses, mules, and oxen definitely put people out of work.

#PEBKAC. Wrong window.

The thing about #foreman and #uyuni forcing a DNS name is that the DNS name doesn't actually work so all of their output is a lie.
Although, that said, the IP address isn't working currently for foreman. It is for uyuni though.
