I was looking for more recent #SARS-CoV-2 antibody studies for #California, but thus far, I’ve not found any. I did find this article from March/April https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/03/coronavirus-pandemic-california-herd-immunity/

During today's walk to the #USPS post office, I didn't pass many people that were not in their cars driving. Of the pedestrians I passed, all but possibly one person wore face coverings. However, I stopped at a store to buy a 7Up and saw two out of four employees with their noses uncovered. We're not going to turn this around if people don't figure this out

"The New Normal (C 73)" It has been 73 days since Texas, racing to reopen without first putting in place large-scale testing and tracing infrastructure, ceded the population of the state to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. That was COVID Day, or C-Day: May 1, 2020. On C-Day, Texas announced that businesses could re-open at 25% capacity; however, it did so without first â*¦ Continu…

From COVID19Tracking http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21582 on Twitter: The weekend lag effect is pronounced in death reporting. For example, last week, CA reported 6 deaths on Monday, then 111 on Tues. AZ reported 1 death Mon, then 117 on Tues. Today, AZ reported 8 deaths. CA, 23. All these data are the outputs of complicated, human processes. http://status.hackerposse.…

From UTSWNews https://twitter.com/UTSWNews on Twitter: Hospitalizations for #COVID19 continue to climb to record levels, and @TexasDSHS on Friday said it had no prediction for when that will stop. California is monitoring COVID-19 closely in each local community and keeping the public informed. We’re teaming up with counties to fight it with every tool we have: current local data, testing, contact tracing, infection control, emergency supplies, containment measures, and more. Counties should be ready to restore limitations if outbreaks increase. The State Public Health…

If it is cool rain (not the hot, icky stuff), feel free to send it here.

Good for them. I do hope they are going to work with parents whose employers want them to come back to the official workplace. And maybe get social services to lay off for a while. Otherwise, there will be a boom in child care services.

http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21645 [www nytimes com] Over 100K new #COVID-19 cases confirmed in the US over the weekend. (And remember that for at least part of the country, testing is restricted due to supply shortages, so the number infected could be much more.) Yay for the "my freedoms" types! And, despite contrary statements from researchers, protesters may be part of …

Has anyone else noticed how often this pattern is repeated? 1: It's not that serious. I'm not worried about #coronavirus, and I'm not going to wear a mask. 2 (often weeks later): I'm infected with #COVID-19, but I'll be fine. 3: (Person is hospitalized. Sometimes a socnet post or two by a relative will indicate how ill the person is.) 4 (also often weeks later): Please donate t…

@guizzy I've heard it said that because black bears are smaller and rounder, people think they're cute and cuddly and so they allow the bear to get close by before realizing they need to get away if the human is to survive. Brown (grizzly) and polar bears are big and mean looking, so people tend to stay away. I do wonder whether pandas are as dangerous. Seeing that they mostly …

I’m glad today is cooler, because I need to take my unemployment form to the post office. I have the opportunity to combine a “go out” task with exercise. I’ve been doing a little bit of walking around the back yard in the evenings, but I’m noticing a sharp dropoff in walking speed because I’m pretty much constantly turning. With longer distances of straight paths, …

I misread the form when it arrived. I was supposed to send this form _last week_, not yesterday.

Good morning and #TZAG. I have finished today's #YoCo ( #yogurt and #coffee ). The outside temperature is 91°F / 33°C ... AccuWeather and the WeatherChannel both expect today's peak to be below 100°F / 38°C.

Almost 61,000 positive and 667,000 negative test results yesterday, with 476 #COVID-19 related deaths. That's about 1 positive out of every 12 tests.
