Planning to play with #Kallithea https://kallithea-scm.org/ soon. I’m still very much in favor of #Fossil https://fossil-scm.org/home/doc/trunk/www/index.wiki but I’m not rigid about it (the way many #Git and #Github users are). If either Git or #Mercurial ( #Hg ) https://www.mercurial-scm.org/ are appropriate for the situation, I’ll use them.

And there it is, that feeling like I need to sleep, but because it is so hot, I cannot do so. I wonder how people in the 1800s coped with Summer temperatures?

Nice one, Drew. Wherever you got it. https://cmpwn.com/@sir/104599764854936534

For some time, I've had the general feeling that this part of #SoCal, once so safe that many people did not lock their homes or vehicles, is becoming more like the urban core of the Los Angeles area about one hundred miles away.
The grandkids' aunt's boyfriend works for a local police agency. She described the area as "there are fewer and fewer safe neighborhoods anymore", basically confirming my intuition.

Wow. Just... wow. I mean, you see this coming because deaths lag hospitalizations lag cases ... but the foreknowledge based on science doesn't blunt the emotional trauma. https://twitter.com/COVID19Tracking/status/1288604499452387328

From COVID19Tracking https://twitter.com/COVID19Tracking on Twitter: OK, our daily update is published. States reported 840k tests completed, nearly 66k new cases, and hospitalizations ticked up. The major observation, however, is that states reported more than 1400 deaths today, the most since May 15. https://twitter.com/COVID19Tracking/status/1288603954985578498/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/66828

19000+ muon decay candidate events and counting! After almost 3100 hours of data taking using the muon detector in Fondren Science Building, we're still seeing the lovely 2.2 microsecond muon lifetime. https://blog.smu.edu/saso/projects/muon-observatory/ https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1288603811771305985/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/66826

Forgot what it is like to not feel hot at midday. Spent a couple of hours with #Daddy_A and the family at the outdoor seating of a food place. The kids don't see me enough, even by video. The middle child ( #Little_Boy_A2, almost 4 ) made sure to stay outside of hugging range, but the other kids ( #Little_Boy_A, age 7; and #Little_Girl_A3, almost 3 ) got some hugs. We talke…

Went into SMU briefly today to take measurements and plan for furniture purchases and deployment for our new, large shared graduate office area. I missed this campus, but am sober about the reality facing us this fall. https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1288600055440715777/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/66824

When I see those "look how much money the boomers are hoarding" graphics, I remember that until we reached our 40s, we saw similar graphics being used to explain why we would never own homes or be as wealthy as our parents' generation. I think the lesson is "wait until you hit your highest earning years, your 40s and 50s" before you resign yourself to living in a shack for the rest of your life.

Going to see my baby boy ( #Little_Boy_A ) and his dad ( #Daddy_A ) and the rest of the family today. (This is the 7 year old from #NE, not the 1 year old from #MO.)

LOL. Reminds me of when #sonOne was in high school and he borrowed my car to take his mom to a medical appointment. While she was in the office, he went to visit a friend. When I got the car back, the ashtray was full of unknown seeds.
Planting them was definitely not going to happen. I didn't even use my home garbage to dispose of them. Silly FBI agent. I'm smarter than a rabbit.

This is $EMPLOYER laptop updating day, but there is a login issue that I don't want to deal with, so I'll wait until it is fixed.

LOL! One of my brothers found the landlord's son from when I was in high school. Sent a pic in which the kid (years younger than me) looks like a balloon vendor at a party or theme park. We're all asking how and what he's doing.
-
Now he's started sending contact requests on Facebook and hinting that he'd like to "catch up" with one sister that is about his age. Uh oh.
.
I generally think there was a reason why you lost contact with someone. It can be fun for a little while to remember the old times, but you're not the same person you used to be and neither is the former friend.

@mangeurdenuage Oh! That is awful!

Today's bread loaf results: A little too well-done. A thick and hard bottom crust. Tried to follow the recipe pretty closely and chose the light crust option on the breadmaker (because that's the only way that it sometimes doesn't burn it). Today's recipe called for both bread flour and whole wheat flour. Come to think of it, the stores didn't have regular whole wheat, so I bou…

Bread is finished. I will make another loaf in a week or two.
