@lain Voter registration in the US expires and the requirements vary depending on the state.
Personalausweis is an internal passport, in the US that function is mostly covered by a Social Security Number.
These things are hard to compare.
But also, it is odd to take money from a citizen for an internal passport.

@lnxw48a1 Political parties?
What a contrast, a Social Security Number which is barely anything and voter registration which is a bit much.

I am sure my students are relieved to be done with it, but I will really miss my cooperative problem solving session and the students in it. As Chair, it was important to me to run one of these sessions and engage with our intro physics students in problem solving. https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1327255300538249218/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/68875

Saw an e-mail message a few days back with the subject "iOS 14.2". So I upgraded. Today I read the message.
"Please do not upgrade until we've finished testing our apps."
Too late now, but I have not noticed anything not working. Not that I use the work phone very frequently.

"Quitters" Nothing says â**we donâ**t care much about the health of our county residentsâ** better than this COVID-19 â**dashboardâ** from Collin County, TX: No case counts. No testing information. No death counts. No sense of the past, or trends. Collin County has yet again abandoned its residents to the coronavirus. Data is still available from the state, but â*¦…

Wow! Two Louisville, #KY, police officers racked up almost 3/4 million "records" of sexual abuse of minors. The PD covered it up. This according to Democracy Now. https://nu.federati.net/url/277874 [www democracynow org]
Obviously victims must have been assaulted multiple times. I don't know the population of L'ville, but I wouldn't think it exceeds 1 million.

@mangeurdenuage The Free Software Foundation's list is almost a subset of the Open Source Initiative's list. #FSF approves of #WTFPL, which was not #OSI approved last I looked. But you're right that OSI approves of some licenses that make you wonder why said licenses exist.

I have to admit I'd never seen or heard of this kind of thing before. One of the outside cats brought his pregnant girlfriend home a few months ago. He set her up in the greenhouse, then stayed around, helping her raise the kids. They tag-teamed a neighbor's cat when it tried to attack one of the kittens. In the process, the other outside cats became visitors that come to eat,…

My nephew #Papaya looked into the freezer while he was visiting. He said “You can tell Uncle Walt is home" and closed the door again.

Each week when I log into the $EMPLOYER laptop, I see "RESTART REQUIRED Restart Office to apply changes to your privacy settings." when I start Outlook. Why is it not figuring out that HQ-IT changed something while it is starting, so it can apply the changes before giving me a usable UI. It isn't like Outlook doesn't take way too long to start already.

I went to Google Translate to find out what your nick means, @mangeurdenuage. "Cloud eater."
That's cool.

@mangeurdenuage Is there another mirror?

@geniusmusing I agree. Doggo has not eaten much for a few days. It'll take a few days before his body decides it isn't starving.

I don't know much about #Elm, but there seems to be a little community drama. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17842400 and https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22821447
I hope they resolve it. Nobody needs extra tension these days.
